I just picked up a 02 TS Wagon as a cheap and reliable (fingers crossed) with 188K on the clock. Going to be bring it to a mechanic to look things over and winterize it.

Here is what I'll be asking the shop to do/check:

Engine oil/filter - Synthetic oil and OEM filter
Brake fluid
Clutch fluid
Transmission fluid
Differential fluid
Injector flush (necessary?)
Coolant flush
Compression test (necessary?)
Check belt condition (the T-belt was changed 165K according to previous owner)
Battery/Charging system test
Condition of suspension/steering components
Condition of engine/transmission mount

Is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks guys!!

Definitely do a compression test. Other than that I can't help you much because I'm a car n00b but if you head over to Western Subaru Club there's a great bunch of guys that are willing to help you. If you need a good Suby mechanic try taking a look at Vex Performance.

Check the brake pads and rotors and spark plugs too.

Thanks guys!

Any recommendation for Canada-based online store for Subaru parts?

Anyone know where to get coil packs for Subaru's that don't cost $100.00 a piece?

I always used RockAuto for my Subie. Can usually find a forum that has a discount code for them as well (MR2OC has one I think). Never had a bad experience with them, and shipping was always quick.

Is All-Makes the only recommended place for Subaru vehicle in Calgary?

I wouldn't recommend them if you paid me, too hit or miss for me.

I've used VEX Performance a few times for basic stuff and haven't had anything bad to say...they are probably the most knowledgeable Subaru guys in Calgary.
