I have been away from import cars for a while (2004, sold my 1992 accord). The guy next door bought a is300 couple years back and then mistreated it. So the bad:
Two broken headlights
Two fenders that are damaged around the lights
No fr bumper
Dented hood and roof

The good:
2jz ge 180000 km
Good interior
DVD player
Screens fr and rear
Sold the amps out of the trunk for 250$

I hate the colour to be honest. It's too "Look at me!", know what I mean?

The bodykit is justified since it's probably cheap as dirt compared to stock. I think you can find a more OEM looking bumper though.

thats not the reason, the reason is that the body kits are fugly, they were fugly in the FnF days and they are now. it just took some people a while longer to figure that out, sometimes with the help of beyond, which is what he did, asked for beyond help.

im also jealous that you got this for so cheap, im hoping you can get it set up for less than what it would cost to buy one.

I still like the body kits but I will say that the oem and lip are Cheeper which is a big selling point. I do have 3 kids under 5 and money is a big factor in how "deep" I can get into making this car personally mine. I can do the mech work and will be doin most of the body work, the alignment of the body panels will be left to some excellent friends. I will paint as well. Lets not let a fun thread turn south ok guys.

That remover set is only good for fasteners with very little torque on them.

Get the actual wheel lock remover set.

Not to be a downer but modifying that engine for speed is not the best course of action, I think mine ran 16's stock, best bet is to not go for performance unless you are ready to go big.

I am getting a little worried I pulled the front plug and it was coated in oil ( does not smell like engine oil ). So I pulled the second last plug and the same thing. Now I know some one was messing with the car while it sat, some one stole the camshaft oil control valve because the original owner left it unlocked for a while. Really hope that once I get to the other 4 they are clean and some one was just screwing with him.

Fuzzybunnykiller

Question for the Toyota guys and anyone else with the knowledge. There is no brake fluid, and the fluid is clean that is in the cylinders. Crank oil is black. I think that the brake booster is gone and the fluid has some how made its way through the vacuum system to the cylinders. Is this a possibility?? Next is the best way to get it out would be a total removal of the top end, no? I see myself trading my hvac trade for some mech help in the future.

sr20s14zenki
12-26-2012, 04:28 PM
Its not really possible, no. The engine vacuum has no direct contact with brake fluid, it just gives the power brake booster a source to work. They are separate systems.

I would fill it back up, bleed the brakes, and then keep an eye out for leaks as it sits. As for engine oil on the plugs, it depends weather its on the electrode, or just the threads/top of the plug where the wire goes. If its just that, its merely a valve cover seal gone bad.

I would run it to operating temp and then do a compression test just to make sure its good. Try to find a downloadable FSM if you can, itll be your best.

In the end, you can always just get a vvt 2jz for around 2k and do the swap. There are many ways to go about it. If i got a car like that for 500$ i would have a 2jz in it pronto...

Fuzzybunnykiller
12-26-2012, 06:00 PM
That's just it is not engine oil it is clear and the engine oil is black and smells nothing like engine oil. You mean the 2jz gte it has the 2jz ge now.

sr20s14zenki
12-26-2012, 10:38 PM
Yes, that is what i mean haha. 2jzgte-vvti. Hmm, maybe somebody was just fucking around and put shit in the cylinders. Do a compression test regardless and see if you can find that fsm, so that you can get numbers straight from toyota as to what it should be for compression. Fsm will come in handly as well later if you decide to wire in a 2jzgte.

sr20s14zenki
12-27-2012, 10:56 AM
Got an fsm for an 02, not sure if thats close to the year of yours or not.

compression pressure should be : 192 psi.
lower limit should be 156.
no more than 14 psi between cylinders.

Fuzzybunnykiller
12-27-2012, 03:52 PM

Back up and running but smoking like a wet camp fire. That is to be expected with the oil that ended up in the combustion chamber, ran really smooth. May have a sticking valve getting a little tick at a settled idle.

sr20s14zenki
12-27-2012, 09:35 PM
Probably not a sticking valve, maybe a shim out of spec, happens all the time. You just go thru and clearance all the shims as per fsm.

Some people should not own cars. The light ticking at idle is not a valve it is the fact that the dipstick for engine oil did not even read any. So a change of the oil and it takes two Liters of oil to get a cleanish stream of oil out of the drain pan. Not sure when it was changed last but it is now and seafoam added to help clean things up. The next oil change will be after 500km and it will be seafoam again and mobli one 5/30, 2000 km and the. Royal purple 5/30. Will get the trans done at mr lube and the rear end done by me. Most happy about this and the trunk tool holder.

And the floor mats in almost new condition, have the is300 embroidered on them.

So the car will be going to see Roberto at compact tuning lab for the body alignment as well when it comes time for paint and the rest of the body workit will go to him and Bronco. Will be doing a hks hi power exhaust while it is there mid June.

Nice work so far. I know what it's like rescuing a car from the dead. Lots of work and lots of wtf happened here!?

Looks good.

This thing is awesome, great job. Love to see cars reused instead of neglected to death.

So driving shows me more to do. I expected so, front rotors, bushings up front, shocks and possible front wheel bearings. Man the prior owner was just not a car guy.

Great project. I still can't believe how a car can be treated so poorly. I am surprised it wasn't run dry of oil.

Just a few pictures for proof I am driving it. These were taken on going to the sun road in Montana.

Yeah change the color!! i dont know if its just me but silver tends to bother me on alot of cars.

LOL, If i ever restored a car and got the engine running, i would drive it around the city for a few thousand kms until i planned on taking it out on a long drive. i would hate to have it break up on me!
