So it has recently come to my attention that there is once again tires being made in 245/45R16 that aren't racecar tires (RA1, R888, etc.)

I'm looking to step up to a max performance summer and in 245 there is the Bridgestone Potenza RE11, and in 225/50 there is a ton more options.

So my wheel/tire combo choice boils down to these:

Stock wheels, 225/50R16
Aftermarket 16x7, 225/50R16
Aftermarket 16x8, 245/45R16

And my question is this. Obviously "more is better", but I don't want too much tire for my suspension and brakes. I may or may not keep stock wheels, that's up to me, but I need input on whether to go 225 and keep it "fun" or 245 and have it grip more seriously but potentially be too much for my relatively mild spring/shock/sway bars/brake setup.

Eibach Pro-Kit springs
Koni reds
Porterfield R4S pads
Stock sway bars with poly bushings/links

Specifically want to hear from people who do road course lapping. Car weighs about 2800lbs. Stock size is 225/50R16.
