I am almost surprised they were allowed back after last years campaign on campus (UC), especially since they were kicked off U of A's campus. I gotta admit though I do enjoy heckling them.

I was gonna bring a Nerf gun with me to shoot the posters from a far. But instead I am just collecting their leaflets and turning them into paper airplanes and throwing them back at em.

Do we really need a thread about this every few months?

Can't everyone just read one of the several threads created over the past few years?

No different then the many NE shooting/stabbing bullshit posts...

At least with the NE shooting/stabbing posts they're actually different from time to time. The pro-lifers are the same every fucking year.

I wonder if these guys are just lazy. What's the point of protesting abortions at UofC? I don't think there's an overwhelming population of pregnant females who may be considering abortion or a large amount of abortion providers there. Are they just protesting whatever at wherever that's not too out-of-the-way for them? I totally question their commitment to their cause. Same deal with those lazy student protesters from MRU that marched to Alison Redford's constituent office where she's not currently at hahaha. I'd be more impressed if they marched to her Edmonton office.

The counter protesters were equally as lame this time around, blowing bubbles at the abortion set up

Can't we just not care and then maybe they'll eventually go away?

I had some 10 year old girl try to hand me a pamphlet on why abortion is wrong. Feel bad for her.

Yeah, I'd bet they're arts students as well.

I went to UVic, and I shit you not, one summer a bunch of the liberal arts hippies were protesting lawns. Yes, that's right, they were protesting grass. Because it just costs money and doesn't give anything back (as opposed to communal gardens). They ripped up a bunch of grass in the middle of campus and planted stuff. Which the rabbits promptly ate, and the Uni promptly re-sodded. Oh and they already had gardens on the other side of campus. Idiots.

Wait, are they actually students? I thought post-secondary education was supposed to educate you.

So what is the problem? People just don't like the displays? They're a bit annoying in their tactics? People don't like protests? People don't like others who actually stand up for what they believe in? I see some personal attacks here but nothing to suggest what the actual problem is.

My personal problem is the way they're portraying their message. I'm fairly desensitized when it comes to gore so it's not that. The fact they try to use it to convey how terrible abortion may or may not be means that I cannot take them seriously. Have you ever talked to one of these people? They sound like the 99%'ers who had no idea what the hell they were talking about and yet were there to "fight for the cause." They're so absorbed with their own conversations amongst each other it's almost cult-like.

I'm not alone in all regards. Even people that walk by don't want anything to do with them, you see them obviously trying to ignore the people and the signs. Seeing such pictures should be by choice and given fair warning, in an area where if you're interested, you can go - Not in the middle of fucking campus.

I think the only people that may be affected by such posters are already pregnant women, weighing the pros and cons of abortion. Truth by told, they've looked at them already in private on the computer. But this may be the "push" they need to not go through with it.

Abortion analogous to genocide? Have they been to Rwanda during that time? Get the fuck off campus.

this is my issue with it. You dont like it? fine, but the hyperbolic nature of everything they say/print is absolutely ridiculous and insensitive to some pretty major travesties that have happened.

When you compare the holocaust and the Rwandan genocide to abortion it is too extreme and I find it offensive.

I don't like it being told what to think.

I find it offensive that this groups thinks they know better than I do on this particular issue, and they are making a point of letting me know that they think so.

I'll make my own fucking decisions, based on fact and rational thought. Not what some group of fanatics tell me.

I know one of the girls that was in the whole U of C free rights ordeal... she had a court date not too long ago, no idea what happened.

Funny thing is, she's against abortion... but she's also against birth control, of any kind. Condoms, pill, anything.

Also, she teaches women how to get pregnant in her free time. She's special... that's for sure. Oh, and she also believes everyone should save sex for marriage.

P.S. Beyond needs to be better at giving current locations of these idiots, I would gladly go rip in to them.

Edit: I also find it hilarious that the "president" of the pro-life group at U of C IS A MAN!

Maybe they do, in fact, know better than you, or in the very least can provide something additional you haven't thought about. A rational person would accept that as a possibility. Simply labeling them "fanatics" doesn't make what they are saying false.

Either what they have to say is true or it is false, regardless of how they do it. And I'm not saying I approve of their tactics.

Haha. But of course that contradicts your point that you don't like to be told what to think.

Sorry, edited my post while you posted this. Didn't expect such a fast response.
