View Full Version : What tires for 22 x 10 rims?

I got some rims off eBay and they turn out to be different size as advertised. I thought I was getting 22x9.0 but instead I got 22x10.
Now, I have also purchased separate tires in preparation for these rims, and they are 265/40/22. Are these now too "thin" to be fitted on the 22x10? Am I screwed and need to get another set of tires such as 285/40/22?

Your feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks.

the 265 stands for 265mm... which is 10.43"... the 10 in 22x10 is 10"...

the 40 in your tire is a percentage of the width... so a 285/40 is now taller than your original 265

I've seen 315's on a 10" rim, your 265's will be fine.

Edit: read OP backwards, but still, you'll be fine, just higher risk of curbing your rim instead of just your tire.

They'll probably be a little stretched. Itll be fine though

Id personally recommend a 285/295 30 or 35 profile

also they might still be 22x9, rims are measured from the inside, not the outside if you are using a ruler

also the tires you have will work just fine, maybe a little stretch on the tire but it wont hurt/harm anything

Your good with those tire sizes! I've got 19x10 in the rear of my BMW and i'm running a 275 30 and its perfect. no stretch at all. With your 40 you'll be safe. I wouldn't even call it a stretch IMO.:)

EDIT: Sorry i meant to say im running a 275 30, not 275 35.

Ya it's definitely not a problem.

I run 265/30/19 on my 19x10 wheels no problem. It's barely a stretch.

If you go to tirerack, you'll be able to see the recommended wheel width for your tire size in the specs section of each tire. 265/40/22 has a recommended wheel width of 9.5-10.5" so you're good to go.
