I bought this car new off the lot in 2002. It is a middle of the line model known as a premium.....basically the options of a Type S, but with the base engine rated at 160hp and 141lbs tq....only 1 ft lb less than the S model. It comes stock with a 5 speed tranny and can run off regular unleaded fuel.

Basically, the 2nd or 3rd day i owned it, i had the oem stereo upgraded, the car lowered 2", and a carbon hood with a pair of jdm Type R headlights added the month after. Oh, and i traded up for the gunmetal S wheels plus $100. I think this is the earliest pic i have of the car back in the day......

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/riv0006800x600.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/riv0006800x600.jpg.html)

A year afterwards....i had changed up the hood and added a body kit. Sold off the rhd headlights for some no name left hand drive versions, and found a set of 2006 Type S rims. I picked up a set of oem accessory side skirts too

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/new06.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/new06.jpg.html)

After a couple of years, i decided to back to a more oem look and ripped the body kit off going back to oem bumpers with front and rear lips. Some of you may recall a Beyond cruise we did a few years ago i was able to make....thanks to some members for the great pics :)

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/RSX.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/RSX.jpg.html)

The only other upgrades not pictured are a Comptech Ice Box intake, and rear Type R sway bar. I drive this car during the summer months only, so as of today, it has only 90k on it

As the car sits today...i'm just running around on my oem wheels this season. I did a 14" brake rotor upgrade and 4 piston calipers

Better shot of the brakes

Last summer i picked up a mint Jackson Racing supercharger kit. It has only 10k on it....came with 750cc injectors, new belts and a Jmercado tensioner upgrade, and 7, 9 and 11lb pulleys. This picture is from the sellers car, i have the blower still wrapped up sitting in storage till the time is right. There was some confusion about selling price, but it all worked out well in the end

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/IMG_0726.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/IMG_0726.jpg.html)

Next, i picked up a brand new rsx 6 speed tranny from the dealership, zero km's, still wrapped in plastic

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/IMG_0106800x598_zps9a4f53df.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/IMG_0106800x598_zps9a4f53df.jpg.html)

Recently, i found the kind of deal i had been looking for a sourced a 2007 K24A2 longblock from an Acura TSX with only 30K on it. This is a great engine even in stock form. It makes over 200hp and has a lot more tq than any K20 found in rsx and civic models

I forgot, i had changed up the seats a couple years back also. 2006 Type S seats, so much better than the 02-04 design :nut:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/IMGP0972.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/IMGP0972.jpg.html)

For the engine, i picked up a Competition Stage 4 clutch and ultralight flywheel

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/0c380be4735x652_zps14406bf3.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/0c380be4735x652_zps14406bf3.jpg.html)

Now for the more tough decisions.............i have 2004 RSX Type S engine i bought about 6-7 years ago. It have only 10k on it at the time, but the bottom end had spun a bearing. I bought it cheap knowing i'd have use for the parts some day. I have done a lot of research regarding k series heads and cams. The 2006-2008 TSX K24A2 has a pretty cool head as it comes with oversize intake valves, dual valve springs and more aggressive camshafts, some of the most desired of the k series line.....but!! the rsx head is still amoung one of the highest flow heads....some still argue make more power than all K24 heads. I do have this mint rsx head.....should i swap it and use the good cams, along with the rsx 50 degree vtc? hmmmm

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/Kseriesparts004800x600_zps95ef63d9.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/Kseriesparts004800x600_zps95ef63d9.jpg.html)

All K24 engines can benefit from an oil cooler and oil pump upgrade.....i grabbed the parts today

oil cooler :)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/Kseriesparts010800x600_zps96bbaa4c.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/Kseriesparts010800x600_zps96bbaa4c.jpg.html)

Oil pump, cast oil pan and matching baffle, couple sensors too
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/Kseriesparts012800x600_zps75250d19.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/Kseriesparts012800x600_zps75250d19.jpg.html)

cleaned up the pan

In order to run the oil cooler, an rsx K20 water pump which requires using the mounting bracket too

Anyway you'll probably end up doing more with it. I was gonna keep it stock and run it in my FG2.

Couple new parts came in.....getting closer

Got a gen2 Karcepts throttle body adaptor that runs both 64 and 70mm sizes with a removable spacer. This is a new RBC intake manifold i picked up from another Beyond member a couple months back. I am still trying to decide if i should run the K24 engine all motor for a bit, then swap the supercharger. Not sure yet
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y282/deetzcrx/2013-07-24203704800x549_zps9ba6c944.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/deetzcrx/media/2013-07-24203704800x549_zps9ba6c944.jpg.html)

This is a P2R billet engine post mount. It is a crv application that is needed when swapping in most K24 engines

I decided to take a closer look at the tranny and see what parts i need to add to it and have it ready

K20a2 head on the k24 block, run the 06-08 cams and 50 degree vtc and supercharge it. Don't waste your time with NA if you have the supercharger already. You won't make much power NA. Maybe around 200whp. What header do you plan on running?

Deetz
07-25-2013, 09:39 PM
I have a true SSR (Six Sigma Racing header) for it already. You are probably right, i should just go ahead with the charger since i already have it.

I still need Kpro!!!! It is the "only" thing i don't think i have

I'm sure you typo'd and meant closer to 240whp right?

People are making 270-300whp with built k24's NA. The K is on another level when it comes to flow.

Deetz you may want to check valve to piston clearance with the 50 vtc. I've heard the k24's can see about 40deg.

Also another thing to consider is the big torque for the fwd if you supercharge. Traction won't happen till third.

Deetz

I'm considering many options as far as to which direction to take. as far as heads go, it's tough. The 06-08 TSX K24 head has oversize valves, it's known to flow well, better than earlier generations....not sure how it stacks up to s stock rsx head with the smaller intake valve....is it even worth swapping??

Yes, i've read different things about piston to valve clearance with k24's also. Some guys run a full 50vtc, others swear not to go past 40-45 as a max....hmmm

I also have a set of tuner Stage I Skunk2 cams, but i'll probably sell them off since i've already got the good 2nd gen K24 versions

I have read about many people making good numbers NA with a decent set of cams and a good tune. Even in Calgary, it should still be capable of decent numbers........i'm going to do some more research before i get to far into it

No I meant 200whp. That wasn't a type o. It's a stock bottom end with all stock parts. There is nothing built about it. if he doesn't supercharge it he wot make tat much power. I know guys have been making big power bit our elevation is too high.

We tuned a tsx on Toma's dyno, it was slightly overbored motor with all oem parts the car made like 206whp. Even zeeshan'a build with 12.5:1 and stage 4 can made like 230

Sorry, sold that 3-4 years ago when i went back to a more oem look. Honestly, i would never ever go back to a body kit again. All of the sound deadening is gone, you get so much more road noise and hear rocks constantly flying up inside the bumpers, it was annoying. Also, regardless of how good a paint you have done on it, along with flex agents, those fiberglass bumpers chip "way" to easily, as opposed to an oem bumper

So that's about right then. Tomas will read 15% lower than a jet anyway. That's pretty much on par.

The car is parked for the winter season, so not much will happen to the car till spring.

Got a couple of parts to help move forward come the time.

New oem oil pump from Acura for the build :D

Being my car is an 02 model, one thing i liked was the newer style cluster found on 05-06 Type S models. Finding one with decent km's on it and that reads in km's is a chore, but got one today. It needs a bit of rewiring to work properly, but it's worth it

Big news......new mounts showed up today, perhaps the best ones in the world available for a street driven DC5. They are made by a premium company out of the UK called Vibratechnics that has been around 35 years. The company is known for making both oem mounts for a number of manufactures, as well as performance lines.

The coolest thing about this set is they are for a street car using rubber instead of polyurethane because they absorb vibration so much better

Let me know if you might want to trade straight a hybrid racing fuel rail, going to be changing my setup and I feel the k-tuned one would look better :nut: guess i should have kept it haha
