Is anyone using this service to optimize their games?

I was playing around with it this morning and decided to capture the FPS from a game of BF3 TDM. Using the FRAPS tool, I logged the FPS to an excel file and graphed the findings. The optimized settings look to be doing their thing as the FPS never really drop below the magical 60 mark. I think the FPS I get is not what's important here, it's how the optimized settings come together to keep my game above 60 FPS. It's also interesting how much the FPS jumps around. I was expecting more or less a straight line. I'm guessing the graphical loads in a game of TDM change based on the action.

Any who, here's the graph:
X-axis - FPS
Y-axis - Time in sec

Does this sacrifice image quality?

Very normal to see jumps like that, its always trying to dial power back and conserve power. You could graph your power consumption in a reverse graph.

I don't think it actively changes settings, its just predetermined settings based on your card. I like V-Sync on my games, which sacrifices horsepower so I have to tweak settings if I want to keep a smooth image on higher to max settings.

You wont see straight lines unless a game is bouncing off the fps limiter.

Here's a screen shot of BF3's setting before and after:

I use it. Seems to work great. Usually ups the settings from the default.

Post your settings!
I'm interested to see what it does.
On BF3 at least, it doesn't change much.

It didnt detect BF3 for me no idea why. I'll add it.

Batman has a limiter of 60fps, no point in posting the graph, its 55-60fps constantly, it dropped
when I applied the geforce settings obviously but it still averages 55fps.

It sometimes does not detect my games either unless I first launch the game from geforce experience.

You have a lot of games :D

it works well for me. i find you have to run the game at least once though before it will pick it up and give you the option to optimize.

There is new Nvidia program called shawdowplay which records your gameplay etc.

http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2013/10/18/shadowplay/

It officially releases tomorrow but you can download now.

Download here: 64 Bit version - Vista, 7 & 8

I found I pull a good steady ~50FPS on ultra for BF4, but I wish I had this available, cmon ATI get with the program! :(

I was playing some bf4 last night, my optimized settings are a lot lower than they were for bf3. On bf3 for a steady 60fps I was pretty much at an ultra ssetting. Now for bf4 I'm soewhere between medium and high.

Did a couple tests tonight with battlefield 4.
About half way though this capture I switched from the optimized setting to an Ultra setting.
I lost about 20FPS right away, and the game felt that much worse - choppy and such. Nice to see that it's doing its thing :burnout:
With the optimized settings, I pretty much say goodbye to anti-aliasing, and make the switch from ultra-to-low on some of the other settings.
And there is no headroom for scaling. This game is really demanding relative to battlefield 3!

While I haven't run the optimizer yet, I have been testing out ShadowPlay.

It's astonishing.

Literally, level astonishing.

I am used to using FRAPS and trying to optimize around it by reducing settings, playing in windowed mode, etc. Not anymore. Let me explain why:

It's running constantly in the background (I have mine set for a 5 minute loop for testing), and because it keeps the loop in RAM, there is ***NO*** lag when it's capturing. My FPS dropped maybe 1 FPS overall (60 to 59 fps in FF14), and that's almost surely the H.264 encoder/decoder chip asking for a little more from the GPU.

There's also no chugging when you hit the save button (Alt-F10). It just shows a little arrow in the SP icon to let you know it's saving and dumps the loop from memory onto your HDD.

Live capture (Alt-F9) is much the same... as the buffer resides in your RAM, there is NO hardware lag from your hard drive spinning up or having write delays. Also, unlike FRAPS, you could be running a web streamer (coming in the next patch is TwitchTV integration direct from hardware), compiling a video file AND playing a game, and as the entire thing resides on the GPU card and memory 90% of the time, there is no capture lag.

As well, as the H.264 encoding is done by hardware, I have yet to see a compression artifact in any video I've captured. Just pure silky smooth. And this is the freaking BETA release of it o_O

I should mention I do run with 16GB DDR3-1600, so I have a LOT of headroom to work with. That said, ShadowPlay's min requirements are 4 GB, so if you have 8GB or more, you're golden.

I will post up a video tonight of a dungeon boss mob in FF14 that I did with a Alt-F10 dump-to-HDD video, native, raw, unedited. It's a 5 minute capture, about 1.9 GB

Yea, ShadowPlay is really good. I wanted to share my BF4 video but its 6GB lol.

Have to try the 5 min one.

Editted - I'm a retard and don't knows how ShadowPlay works

Well, with all this snow, I may give shadow play a shot today.
I'd like to get a capture of some of the levelolution stuff in BF4.
