New turbo/winter beater/work vehicle - El Toppo

So, after having a few difficulties with my sambar over the last few months (brake system, transfer case, front differential) some of which problems have yet to be resolved. I decided it might be time to move on to a big boy truck. I hummed and hawed at all the different gas mileages, as it will be used primarily for work, and I put on a lot of miles in the city.

I began by evaluating what was important to me. I needed good gas mileage, cheap to run, and something I could advertise on. I was looking at tacomas and such and then stumbled upon the 1995 Mitsubishi Toppo. I decided to pick this up
, throw some money into the truck and keep it on reserve if I need it.

For work, I own an aquarium maintenance (pm me for questions if you'd like) company, and will be using this as my daily driver work vehicle. I mostly do maintenance and 90% of new aquariums are built on site so the truck was only really being used as a truck every couple months or so. That being said, I'll get her fixed up and back on the road soon.

I've already ordered a front lip, lower springs and I think the car will end up on some ssr's or Volks for winters and will have these for summer.

Picked the car up in Edmonton and drive home, its fwd 660 cc of power with a baby turbo on it. I believe it is a ct20.

Right now the car is at the shop, waiting for an oop on Monday. I'll take some more shots when I get it back!

エアコン(ea-kon) means air conditioner. I always have the urge to get a kei car like an Alto Works for a winter car, but parts are hard to come by, I can get them shipped from Japan but that of course takes time. And I also try not to get cars that I can't get replacement windshields for here.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of the whole kei car thing... until my boyfriend got one- a Suzuki Alto Works. Holy eff... I LOVE that thing. He can beat the heck out of it in the city and still get like 50 mpg. The only thing that's sketchy and/or annoying is taking them on any highways (because it's going along at like 5000 rpm the entire time).

Update

So she passed the oop with "flying colours".

Realized how small the wheel wells really were when I tried to throw on some 175/70/13 and they rubbed with any weight in the back.

So I figured what better car to learn how to roll the fenders on. Bought an Eastwood fender roller , and last night in an hour with my trusty heat gun and roller I rolled an pulled both rear fenders.

No rubbing or anything. Roller worked well, was on its smallest settings was still probably too big but I made it work.

I'll post a pic of the rolling tonite.

Next on agenda is shoehorning the front winters on, and then fixing all the little things wrong with it. (Drivers window switch is somewhat eratic, no glove box, missing speaker cover, single din deck wired to be on constantly even when car is off)
