Need some ideas on an anniversary gift for the wife. It will be our 5th year. Also her birthday is the day before.

Any ideas?

well traditionally, 5 year anniversaries are supposed to be made from wood, but new tradition is silverware.

a nice wooden wall clock, or morning wood could be appropriate.

or, since giving her a set of forks and knives may be seen as sexist, maybe some sterling silver jewellery or restrictive bracelets.

Better name your price range. Beyond Ballers will be telling you to buy her an AMG merc.

Probably depends on what she's into... Just to be safe, get her a Rolex.

Whatever you buy her keep in mind that in most cases women expect the following years gift to exceed the previous year.

It's been a few years since my fifth, but I'm pretty sure the mrs. gave me wood.

Paper is made from wood. Get her divorce papers.

If you want her to be extra surprised, renew your vows as the birthday gift.

LOL some of the replies...

Well what can I say, she is into fashion.

Would like to keep it to no more than $1000.

Hah, anniversary gifts are for suckers. I've sailed past seven of them without gifts. For our ten year we are planning a Europe trip.

I will also say that it takes a special kind of woman who appreciates being bought an expensive gift with what is essentially her own money.

+1 Been saying this for years, hard to find a woman who gets that though haha.

Are you implying that your money is her money?

That may be the case in some relationships. In others the couple split their bills and each have their own money for what they want.

Weezy, no, I make a lot more than her, but it's all "our" money. I get some to spend as I see fit, but the bulk of it is "ours" and is spent on priorities that we decide together.

Makes sense, since if I died, she'd get the money and debts.

I am old fashioned and consider money made by the household as "our" money. Then again, Im not married, so its not like I speak from experience.

It can work for some people, but it's easier to have separate "play money". My cheque pays the bills, and we split hers 3 ways, allowance for me, allowance for her, and vacation savings (or vacation debt, usually, hahah). That way you can't mad when she buys 50 pairs of shoes, and she can't get mad when you buy car stuff

So back to the Extraslows arguement, her anniversary gifts come out of my "allowance", so yeah, she's actually getting a gift and not paying it herself.

I'd separate the gifts and the need on your part to come up with two great ideas. You are certain to fuck up one of them, so spread the risk. Get her a birthday gift and together decide on an anniversary gift.

My GF has a list of what she wants..well she tells me often so I have an easy time finding a "gift."

We have a joint account but also have our own personal accounts. I think that's the best way to go.

Ya shoulda hit up Holt when they had those crazy hourly deals lol

Every man should have a separate personal account from his other half. Just cause you are together/married you really don't have to merge everything together. Some independence is still nice. Sure a joint account to pay for bills etc is good. Anyway IMO.

I have convinced my gf that I don't need special occasions to show her how much I love her. If it changes I will let her know.

Yea, just a random fully paid Xmas/New Years Eurotrip for herself will do the trick!

My 5 year was back in October and I took her for a shopping trip, a couple of days in a hotel without the kid in the city and got her a nice ring from Justin at Gem by Carati. She loved it.
