I picked up a job for the summer located in the UofC research park. I live in the Killarney area and trying to figure out the best way to get there without being on the road too much (ie: avoiding idiot drivers). Also hoping to avoid that ridiculous Home Rd. hill that goes up to the back of Market Mall but it might be the only sensible option. Hopefully they have a shower at work lol. Thoughts on any of these Google suggested routes?

Also given the shit conditions of bike path typically and the fact I have to lock my bike outside, I'm not entirely interested in taking my CAAD10. I'm hoping to find a commuter with the shifters on the handle bars as I had the ones on the frame and just hated it. Prefer used as I can't spend much on this, really hoping $300 is enough. It doesn't have to be pretty, just work and fit. I'd love to have a bike with drop bars but I'm not picky at this price point. Is there a model that comes to mind that I can search for on Kijiji?

You've seen this?: https://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msid=214787955470216443247.0004c85a656a4e6b59066&msa=0&ie=UTF8&t=m&ll=51.07592,-114.109497&spn=0.172565,0.273972&z=11&source=embed&dg=feature

On the upper right side <TRAFFIC> you can toggle on/off bike paths as well.

Cool! Thanks man.

There is a bike path parallel to the road the whole way, sounds like a winner! Had no idea there was a path beside the road around the back of Foothills, and crossing 16th ave towards the Children's Hospital...the more you know!

Now to find a bike! I looked around and Pacman had a Cannondale which might work well if I can find used. MEC also had an entry level bike on clearance in my size but it's $500
