Only one more sleep ladies.

How many legit passes do you guys think we'll see on circuit this year, not including mechanical/tire failures?

I'm guessing 6.

Also, Maldonado makes it through practice, qualifying, and the entire race without a crash.

Both of your estimations are optimistic.

I wonder if Perez will try his divebomb the inside after the tunnel this year.
:nut:

I think Rosberg will win it qualifying or Lewis will lose it in the pits.

Ricciardo wins through some miracle. Crashtor doesn't crash but places lower than Max Chilton in an effort to prevent damage to his car.

I meant Maldonado crashes and flips his car onto one of the yachts in the harbor.

Rosberg more or less has to show Hamilton that he can't close the door on him anymore or his championship hopes are over. My prediction is HAM on pole him and Rosberg crash out in the race and Riccardo or maybe Alonso for the win. Or Rosberg could just keep doing what he's doing now and its a Hamilton shutout.

I call Hamilton for the win and a boring race. At least the scenery should be good.

I get excited for it every year, then halfway through, say to myself "This is such a terrible race". Lol

Last year was really eventful and it was the last race before Vettel took off with the championship thanks to Perez taking out Kimi (although moot since Pirelli ruined F1 shortly thereafter).

I'm in Casino Square for qualifying at and at Grandstand K for the race. Hopefully it's not as dull as you guys think. ;)

My guess for Monaco...

We are going to see a Red Bull on the podium, if they can continue their momentum after the first two practice sessions today.

To make this races more interesting, for this race only, they should give all the drivers unmodified Mustangs and let them thrash it out around the track.

I want to see these guys going 2 wide into the station hairpin and not give a shit about bumping the wall or each other lol.

Upload images to an image site, then copy the forum IMG link, and paste it in here.

I use photobucket because apparently I'm old, but it looks like all the kids uses imgur these days. There's apps for both, and imgur doesn't even need registration, at least accessing through Safari.

Meh, PB did the job, and was the first to have a usable iPad native app that had IMG links specifically for forums. Shit, I guess I am old haha.

Hurry up man!!! What could you possibly be doing in Monaco that is more entertaining than posting pictures for strangers on an internet car forum in Calgary?

I think Lewis should be a bit political and less candid in his interviews. A huge difference from 2013, and even from before Bahrain. It's all business. I would expect at least one collision between the two this year, maybe even this weekend.

Just back from Cannes, got to see the Pulp Fiction crew on the red carpet - Tarantino, Thurman and Travolta.

I have an older version of IOS on my ipad - I don't believe it allows files to be uploaded but I will check. If I can I will upload some pics from tommorow. Any requests?

Jeez, in the middle of your honeymoon in Monaco and you are sitting around posting on Beyond!

have a great time, I look forward to the stories when you return.

Zip up to Grasse for a day too.

Back on track - I am curious how Alonso is going to do, great experience and a car that may not be the fastest, but could still play into his hands.

Enjoy the rest of the trip!

Hamilton was so pissed in the press conference, going to be a hilarious turn 1 tomorrow.

Button still sucks, didn't even make Q1, but hey, Magnussen pulled an 8th in that POS. Can't complain!

Rosberg being investigated. I'm hoping for no penalties:

"I quite like the way Senna dealt with it, so I’m going to take a page out of his book.” - Lewis Hamilton

I haven't been so excited for a Monaco start since forever. Looking forward to the shenanigans to liven up the race.

No penalties for Rosberg.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if they lose a potential perfect season over this.

Haven't been this excited for a grand prix in a long time. Tomorrow is definitely going to set the tone for the rest of the season. Hamilton's body language was great to watch along with Rosberg trying to put on a brave face.

Lewis handled the post press conference pretty well, and held his tongue. Better than calling him Mr. Silver Spoon previously... Ricky Rosberg does have a ring to it though lol.

After cooling down, Lewis' FB post was pure class.

Lewis definitely held his tongue at the post press conference. Kept all answers short.

Q: Coming to you Lewis. Nico's mistake, ironically, and the subsequent yellow flags meant that you couldn't improve on your lap. Your feelings?
Lewis Hamilton: Yeah, it is ironic. But it's OK. I was up a couple tenths so it's OK.

Q: Lewis, your response to that? When you're last on the track there's always that risk isn't there, you're vulnerable to something like this happening?
LH: I don't have an answer to it.

Q: Lewis, give us your thoughts when you were told over the radio, or you saw the yellow flags and knew that it was all over.
LH: Not really much.

Can you elaborate?
LH: Not really much! I didn't really think of anything. The lap was done and that was that.

Q: You said you were a couple of tenths up though, so you must have thought you were on target?
LH: I was on target, yep.

Q: And your thoughts on where you go from here. Will you be wanting to meet with the team this evening. Anything unusual before the preparation for this race?
LH: I don't know, I'll have a look into the data and, you know, look where I can improve tomorrow.

Kimi was a disaster in the race other than the start. Was hoping he would be on the podium. Sutil was the guy doing all the passing until he crashed out, and a bit of a dull race after that.

Cool that Bianchi got his first points for Marussia.

Several crashes, none in front of me dammit, and preety much the result everyone expected. With the exception of Vettel retiring early. At the end Riccardo was catching Hamilton due to a vision problem Hamilton was having. Or perhaps he thought there was something wrong with his eyesight because Nico was putting distance on him. LOL. Raikkanen was aggressive and it cost him. Alonso played it pretty safe. Overall I was glad I came for the ambiance but wish the racing was closer. Mercedes really dominated.

Wasn't really Kimi's fault. Puncture from Chilton after pitting during the safety car..

His race was pretty much over after that. Possibly could've been a podium for him too.

Alright Erik, you've heard them both in person, V8 or turbo V6?

Edit: Never mind, did some Googling, answer is none.

The new engines have a cool turbo mechanical noise to them but are not close to sounding as good as the F1 cars of old. You don't need earplugs to watch them as the exhaust is so muffled. No shaking of the grandstands when they go by. The Formula Renault and GP cars were more exciting sound wise - even if they were 7 seconds a lap slower than the F1 cars.

Over the TV broadcast I can make out a faint high pitch whistle from the cars... really annoying if I focus on it.
