TMPS is like a two sided sword, it's great that I know a tire is running low on pressure but it sucks to know I got a nail in it.

Has anyone tried to patch a run flat tire? From my research, run-flats have a stiffen side wall that maintains vehicle stability in low pressure situations. If that's the case, I see no reason why I cant just put a butt plug into so long as the side walls aren't compromised. Can anyone comment?

Secondly regarding replacing a single tire on AWD SUV's - I understand it to be a bad idea. I want to know what depth difference between tyres before I know for sure I need to swap all four. New tyres I'm guessing have 11/32 of tread? My SUV has 8k on the clock, I'm guessing it's down 2/32? If that's the case would you guys recommend changing all four?

Thanks in advance.

Run flat or traditional tire, a puncture in the tread is easily fixed with a plug.

You will get different answers on this. When I had my BMW and got a flat they refused to fix it saying legally they can't fix a run flat. $500 later I was on my way home with a new tire.

Of course this happened 7 days after I refused tire warranty which was $700 for 3 years.

according to this you should be able to repair it though.
