My GF is away so my friend and I took her jeep to a local offroad park near Houston. I was hot as balls and dusty so we were glad we left the top on for the AC.

This was actually my first time formally off roading, although I've done a lot of dirt biking and mountain snowmobiling. My friend is older and did some 4x4'ing 20 years ago in BC. So, I'd rate us both as beginners.

We got stuck in the mud a couple times but managed to drive it out each time. Then, we found a small but deeper then expected mud hole which we really got stuck in. I had a come-along rated at 8,000lbs pulling power. Well that thing did not work great with heavy mud 80% the way up the tires and trying to pull it up out of a pit. Fortunately, some ATVs drove by and 2 of them with winches yanked us out backwards. Lesson: Get a damn winch.

At the end of the day, 50 minutes at the car wash and she was clean (mostly).
Looking forward to next time, hopefully somewhere with some elevation change (Austin) and less mud to clean off haha.

I'll keep the come along as back up, like you mentioned. Time to go winch researching.

Here are a couple vids, just splashing through some mud.
