Getting pretty dark on the commute these days, what do you guys recommend/use?

I'm thinking helmet mounted for portability with multiple bikes.

I have a 1000 lumens MagicShine that that's held up pretty good for the past 6years of daily bike commuting. I have mine mounted on handlebars, they also have a helmet mount as well.

They go for about $150.

I picked up one of the Zinger lights from MEC and it's been great. You can buy extra handlebar mounts for about $3 for use with multiple bikes.

I have a Magicshine 800 lumens version, and have used the one in the Amazon ad you linked. The Magicshines have a significantly better spread. As in, the Cree ones are a lot more focused. I prefer the Magicshine because of it, but the Cree will do great for the commute.

^ been using it the past few weeks and I fully agree with the focused spot of light it gives and then a faded spread. I will say that it is significantly better than anything under $100 at MEC though, so for the price point I would recommend it.

I'll step up to the Magicshine next winter based on recommendations, thanks!
