Just picked up a Yoder YS640 Competition pellet grill. Made in Yoder, Kansas. It's an amazing grill. Capable of smoking and grilling. Much better than the Treager or any other pellet grill. The circuit board gets periodical upgrades sent out, thick Machined steel, hand made in 'Murica.
Can't wait for this thing to arrive!

Anyone else have one, or are really into smoking/pellet/charcoal grilling?

Digital controlled temperature. The pellet auger/temperature is controlled by the controller. Set the temp on controller, the auger will automatically feed pellets to maintain the temp. Basically hands off smoking with easy temp control. You can also set temp high enough to grill on the unit.

Owning a smoker is hard here. It's hard to smoke in alberta with availability of good wood options. Not easy to get hardwood here as opposed to the south. Pellets are easy to come by up here. Real smoking isn't chips, it's logs. Getting great smoking wood up here ( pecan, Apple, cherry, and so on) is very hard. The pellets are fairly easy.

Lazy man smoker you will enjoy it. No thinking involved
But you'll never have bragging rights. Late nights early mornings etc.

Congrats, it seems like it's a solid smoker!

Temp control is more about air control than fuel and I'd recommend trying an Auber on your current smoker: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=14

You can get good sized wood chunk at Walmart, I picked up some Apple and Mesquite the other day. I'd like to try some logs one day.
