Heading up to the Jasper area in a few weeks and looking for some recommended sights and hikes to do. We'll be lugging a far amount of camera gear so nothing too spine bending (think Cascade) but stuff like Aylmer and Ha Ling are fine.

If any views are fairly picturesque as well I'd love to hear about it!

Athabasca Falls are right off the road and pretty cool if you haven't ever been. Never hiked in that area, so can't comment on anything else.

Miette hot springs are the nicest in the rockies IMO.

I really like the hike at the top of the tramway. True mountaintop views, and you don't have to slog for hours to get there. Can get a bit busy at peak times.

Agree with Miette hot springs, loved enjoying the scenery while relaxing in their hotter pool, I believe it is the hottest in the rockies!

Wilcox pass would fit the bill of having spectacular views without being overly difficult.

I saw 6 different bears 2 weekends ago on the road to miette hot springs. A momma bear with 2 baby Cubs walked right up to our cars. My dash cam video is hilarious listening to me, the mrs and our son freak out. First time seeing a bear let alone a momma bear and her cubs.... It was pretty cool seeing so many bears.

Also worth checking out would be the glacier walk way that's about an hour from jasper. It's the glass walk way over the side of a mountain.

Closer to jasper we hit up medicine lake which was empty and no water and continued down to maligne lake. That had tons of snow on the trails still so we didn't venture too far. It was still pretty chilly up there as well. We did hit up tons of trails and random roads to no where venturing around.... There are always lots to see and places to go.

Horseshoe Lake is pretty cool to see some cliff diving. Won't catch me anywhere near Athabasca falls, too many people... the path is paved FFS. I like Sunwapta falls much better, especially if you hike the 2km to the back falls to get away from the people.
