Anyone still play League of Legends up in here?

Kind of an informal post, but running an upcoming tournament and trying to get players and teams together.

Last post I found was ~2014 for League of Legends in here.

I still play but I'm bloody awful and only good in one role, marginal at 2 others... And I only have one main rofl

I still play. I have found certain times of day have less trolls, so I only play at those times. Now that school is out though for teenagers, it will be much more of an issue. The game is still full of bugs, has a flawed matchmaking system, and they completely ruined some champions for no reason (I.e. Veigar) but there isn't much for low-commitment games right now, so it does the job when I'm bored haha. I can play any lane pretty well now.

Ranked matchmaking is a joke. Any league under Diamond is just a troll fest. I quit and haven't looked back.

Trolls OP. I play a lot of ARAM because they're shorter, but I'm probably on a 1 win / 5 games streak for the last 40 or so.

The amount of AFK/DC is also ridiculous

I'd join you. I play regularly and have done ranked for 3 seasons now. Not the best but I try.

The key to ranked (for me) is to ONLY play early weekend mornings, and one game immediately when you get home from work around supper time if you want. Then when you win, stop playing ranked for the day and take your one win. I have an extremely high win rate like that, and I am slowly clawing through the ranks - the downside is it takes a long time to get ranked games in.

The game has MANY other flaws though, for example I won 8/10 of my placement matches and I got placed bronze 2 haha, wtf? Was Silver 1 the season before that when I stopped playing, almost at Gold. Then you have ranked games which can be utter blowouts, like 30 vs 2 kills and 20 minute finishes. That should never happen if the matchmaking was doing it's job.

It still has by far and away the worst community of any game I've ever played, by a factor of at least 10. You can't even explain to someone how bad it is, it's something that has to be seen to be believed. I wouldn't even know how to describe it to someone.

Other than the community, the biggest flaw IMHO that they have never even tried to address is leavers/afk. If you lose a game because 2 of your players left, why do you still lose points? That is laughable. Give the winning team their points, who cares, but keep the losers whole as well since obviously it wasn't an even match. You can be carrying your entire team, and the best player in the game, but still drop rank after rank when people afk or leave your games - that isn't something that should be possible.

Anyone play while they had the servers from Chicago active? Just wondering what the ping difference was...if any.

Usually sit at ~50 ping as is where the servers are currently located.

My ping is never anything but 39-41ms. I have no idea what server I'm on though.

on main haven't touched it yet. Was D5, presume i'll get G1 or P5

i got to silver once then i stopped playing because i was scared of ruining my record. i think i had a 11-1 with Cassiopeia. such a fun game

I think your record slowly degrades if you don't play for precisely that reason, unless they changed something.

Since the server changes though, my ping doubled to ~80 ms and is super noticeable :(

I just checked it's labeled as "Silver II"

Did they change the rankings, I always thought it was just bronze, silver, gold, plantinum? there is levels now?

I know the higher ranks decay for sure.

But yeah there is Silver 1-5, Gold 1-5, etc. You might have decayed from, say, silver 4 to silver 2, if it's been a while. Not sure exactly.

Decay only occurs at Plat 5+ I believe!

I find I come back to it every few months, but hardly play at all compared to what I used to. Sticking to normals and muting everyone else in the game has increased the enjoyment factor 10 fold.

I just got back into it as new friends got into it.

Placed Plat 4 on my Main and Silver 1 on my Smurf hah.

Got my Smurf to Gold 2 then played my main.

Wanted to maybe rush to Diamond 5, but may just take a break from league and play Paragon
