^Thanks guys. I'll also check oil levels and bring 1 L just in case. Skeeters are rampant eh..good to know as well!!

Looks like their will be quite a few K powered hondas in attendance!

I'll be out on Sunday. The Miata is now aligned and cornerbalanced so it should work pretty well. It's scary how well it handled with it's previous lack of alignment (<2degrees of castor and a startlingly random collection of numbers for toe and camber)

Here is a quick list of things not to forget:
-Helmet (they do have loaners if you need one)
-Food and water for the day (you can usually grab a quick lunch outside if needed)
-tire pressure gauge
-Sunscreen, Rain gear, and a warm coat
-Self Tech form

Also make sure your battery is well secured, that you remove everything that is loose (even the floor mats) when you arrive. Also that you have enough fuel so when you corner hard you don't starve the motor.

Stuff that is good to have:
-Green painters tape (for race numbers)
-compressor
-Small tarp (to cover your stuff in case it rains)
-Spare change of clothes
-Spare Shoes
-Sun Hat
-Camp Chair

It is good proper fun! For your first run out, try to get somebody to ride along with you that can give you tips or help you navigate the course. It helps a lot.

Where does one store such stuff? Is there a tent or are you expected to just leave it off to the side somewhere?

Lots of people use large Rubbermaid bins to keep things dry, others just put everything under a tarp (bring something to weigh down a tarp as it can get windy).

You have too many cars, you should consider selling some of them ;)

Both of them are for sale...

The truck is not.

^ Usually posted on the SASC and CSCC forums as well as the SASC Facebook page. There is a full event listing on both forums too.

Look up SASC on motorsportsreg.com and you'll see the upcoming events.

Just a couple pictures. Big thanks to Reijo the Viking instructor for his patience and constant revisions. The final track he came up with was awesome. Particularly for a first timer like myself. I haven't had that much fun since Race City.

Also thanks to Sugarphreak & Twin_Cam_Supercharger for the ride alongs. Had a gravol when I got home. Though I was gonna puke. You guys know how to drive those cars hard!

You do that by setting the car up earlier for each element. Not easy, but doable with a lot of practise.

That was more fun than the track day that I did at Race City years ago. With Auto X, you can go flat out without worrying too much about wrecking. 3M film on the bumper deals with the cones. After that event, I can officially say that I have no further interest in drag racing. My times sucked, but I was having a blast. And I saw improvement every run. I have a better idea what to do next time. Very beginner friendly!

Strange though, I've read conflicting documents that state that all civics are "H street" as well as documents which specify the 06-11 Civic Si is "G Street." Can anyone shed any light on this? What advantage is there to being in the lower class?

There is only one definitive set of documents:
http://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

For car classing, look at "Appendix A -- Automobile classes"

FYI, HS lists "Civic(all)", so all years and models of Honda Civic are classed in HS.

The advantage of being in a "lower" class is that your PAX value is lower. PAX is a handicap that attempts to equalize classes.

Well there was one cone at the end. It stayed under the car for the next couple of hours as punishment for jumping in front of my car :poosie:

It's been many years since I last went to an autoslalom event. I'm looking to register for one of the July 25/26 Fort Macleod event, should I join the one on Sunday? Is it more competitive and fun than the Practice event?

Murray Peterson
07-08-2015, 06:10 AM
The two days are much the same, but only Sunday counts towards the annual championship.
A lot of people (myself included) go for both days and get double the fun for our drive down there.
