Hey All,

I am looking to take a cheapish (Under $2000 total/per person?) trip in Mid-november, looking for suggestions. I am planning on spending 7 days and would like to stay within the US/Central America.

So far I was thinking New York, California or Panama City. I would like to see the most attractions as possible during this time.

What's a budget trip you would recommend?

Thanks!

I would avoid the US due to the dollar.

It really depends what kind of trip you are looking for as well.

Mexico is always relaxing and fun with lots of activities and excursions.

I just booked 9 days in the Riveria Maya from October 31st on. It was about $1600EA for 5 star all inclusive and we plan to spend about another $700-1000 on excursions and such.

Currently $2000 canadian is only like 1500 american.

I doubt you can do New York for 7 days with that.

We went for the Riu Palace. We've stayed there twice before and love the resort and location.

That money also includes trips into PDC, not excursions only.

I booked a 4-star all-inclusive in Puerto Vallarta for a week for $1200/pp... we originally were going to go to Vegas and had started planning it out several months ago, but the exchange rate changed all that.

$700-$1000 on excursions isnt that much. A fishing boat alone costs about $200-400 USD depending on how many other idiots you want to be with. Party boat typically 80 per person... hitting the towns with cabs, hitting the bars... that's actually a very conservative number.

Typical vacation i do at least 3-4 excursions.

As for the vacation: Panama would be sweet. I saw the one ad on sunwing a while back and thought it would be pretty cool to check out. Forget about New York or California.. boring!

Dominican Rep is always a good deal. For that price you'll want something all inclusive. Eating out 3 meals a day for 2 people can add up fast.

USD ones for tipping. Bills for purchase. Don't even bother with their local stuff.

edit: I've only been to DR.

Depends on what exchange rates you can get.

Why convert Canadian to American to Peso's if you lose money? If you plan to spend a certain amount get that in Peso's. BUT don't come back with Peso's cause you will have a really hard time getting rid of them.

Lol. Only an idiot brings USD to Mexico.

A) They hate americans
B) They are going to absolutely rape you on the exchange no matter where you are
