View Full Version : Amp install not so straightforward

I've installed several amps in the past - not typically difficult.

No wiring diagrams online yet for my m37, but tapped into a high level rear speaker. Got the sub working, with two issues.

First issue I solved. Turns out active noise cancellation feeds subworthy frequencies which cause continual rumble - especially with low rpm revs. Disconnected ANC microphones - almost disappeared. Good enough.

Weird issue though: When I turn on the stock head unit, sub and amp are on fine but no sound being sourced at all through ANY speaker until I disconnect and reconnect the sub. Then everything is cool. Even with sub/amp power disconnected, keeping high level input connected causes this.

Almost seems like some sort of protection circuit or something. Ordered a simple delayed relay from Ebay. Remote wire splice can turn it on, and it reconnects either positive or negative high level input when thrown. But any thoughts how I can not bother with it, and/or wait the likely 6orsomethingstupid weeks for it to arrive?
