I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this topic, if not could you please move it. Thanks

So I go to put my winter tires on yesterday and I've been keeping them in my parents garage, apparently they've been stolen. So today I buy a set off kijiji. The guy said they were off a 2008 328xi, I have an 06 330i. They're 17" rims and the set I had stolen were 17 inch rims so I thought they would fit.

I put them on, get in the car to try and drive and the car isn't moving. I thought I was on a patch of ice so I jack the car up again and put a mat under the drive wheels and I try again and I'm giving her and the car is lurching but the wheels won't spin. I take the rear wheel off again and see a metal shaving. I put it back on and jack up the front and try to spin it and it won't move either. I realize now that the caliper is rubbing on the inside of the rim, it sort of narrows closer to where the spoke is than the back of the rim. What do I do now? Will a spacer work? I guess worst case scenario is I buy a set of steelies and have these tires mounted to them.

Pretty sure they're oem BMW wheels, I'm not sure how to check the offset but while inspecting the wheels after I did notice some of the markings said BMW. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I know for sure this part of the caliper is rubbing the rim and I think the bottom part too. It just hits it where the rim tapers

Those wheels are oem BMW. They were E46 rims and are Style 98, dimensions of 17x7 with an offset of 47. Interesting, they should fit. Standard e90 17x8 winters have an offset of 34. Inner clearance should be ok and would extend further out by 2mm according to an offset calculator. Obviously the wheels are thicker. Spacers won't work.

Actually just looked at the pictures again and you can see the rim gets thicker near the spokes which is hitting the caliper. Spacers might work but you will probably end up pushing them out too far.

the 330i and 335i have a bigger brake disc surface of 13.2 compared to the 12.3 of the 328i

You will need a wheel off a 330i or 335i

Ya that looks like the caliper is rubbing the inner barrel of the wheel, spacers won't be able to help you there.

if you decide not to get steelies, I have a set of 18" replica BMW wheels that came off my 335i for sale. They're pretty thrashed but still good to drive on. Still has winter tires mounted as well but only good for one season. I'll sell them to you for $100.00.
