What size poster for this image?

Hey guys, I see the printing/poster discounts in the deals thread all the time, and was thinking of having this image made into a poster

It's apps 1000x1600, but I am wondering what size poster I can get away with this 5x8 ratio

1000x1600 is gonna get you a pretty sweet postcard.

This is why I don't post high resolution photos online.

It depends how far away it will be viewed. 1600 X 1000 is extremely low resolution for a print (1.6 Megapixels). Typically an ideal print is 300ppi, which is only about 5X3" for 1600X1000. Most people don't print quite at that level though, since even most DSLRs get maxed out around 20X13" or 24X16" @ 300ppi.

If viewed from a distance, and depending on the print medium (eg. canvas is very forgiving) most images look OK at a lot less, say 100-150 ppi, even less in some instances. At 100 ppi you're looking at 16X10" and at 150 ppi roughly a 11X7". You're not going to get anything huge out of it.

The other thing you might consider is up-resing it with software, so long as it doesn't introduce too many artifacts. Programs like Genuine Fractals/Perfect Resize.

Those sizes of prints are dirt cheap, you haven't got much to lose by giving it to Costco and seeing what it looks like - maybe $10 or so.

I'm trying to get higher res but the artist doesn't seem to have a site anymore, so tracking down a high res or print is proving a challenge. Will keep at it, thanks for the info guys

10x16 might be acceptable too but it wont be pretty

I was gonna say you can find lots of options for this print online but then I looked closely and noticed it's not the original haha.

Going to check out Costco eventually get a print made, it will fit in with my other weird tv/movie/music posters, I still have to get some olly moss prints for empire strikes back and there will be blood
