Man that sucks.

His solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for the George Harrison tribute is one of my favourites to watch, especially the part at the end where he tosses the guitar up in the air and then walks away like a fucking pimp haha

Great video!

I thought that Prince's solo was a too bit showy and wanky for a tribute to George. Marc Mann had far better tone, and he played a bit more appropriately on that video.
Not to diss Prince as a guitarist, he was awesome and quite underrated, but I think he lost the point of the reason they were there.

Dhani sure looked like he was having fun, and Jeff was awesome.

Haha I agree. I mean the performance was a bit much given the circumstance, but on its own it's very entertaining. But if Dhani loved it, sure why not? haha

(Copied) The story goes something like this. Rolling Stone left him off of their greatest 100 guitarists of all time list. To prove them wrong and spite them, Prince wiggled his way into this performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of 2004. During rehearsals, he played a very subdued version of his solo, as he didn't want anybody to know what was coming. That's why everybody was so surprised and stunned at his face melting performance.

Tone is subjective, I wasn't a fan of the chorus used By the other guitarist. This performance sums up prince to me, there are many stories where he comes off like a total dick, but puts on incredible performances that are beyond comparison.

What's most interesting about that performance, try to figure out where his guitar went after he threw it.

His Super Bowl performance also makes me roll my eyes any time someone says "it isn't possible to play an event like that with live instruments." Prince did it with anterrential downpour, with 4 different guitars, modern artists need to be less lazy

I remember the last time he was in Calgary for a show and my mom was telling me that he showed up at one of the Kingdom halls for a weekly bible study.

Prince was a Jehovas Witness (https://www.romper.com/p/when-did-prince-become-a-jehovahs-witness-he-was-heavily-involved-with-his-faith-9342)

^ Which has people wondering if it was prescription drugs that did him in. Rumour is he had a painful hip problem for a while and he wouldn't get surgery as his religion doesn't allow blood transfers. Could have been jamming the pain pills to him to help with that.

And I assume the guy that was holding him up caught the guitar. Pretty sure that was planned the way he laid back and guy just happened to be there to hold him. The more clips you see of him, he was lucky he was good at music. And at only 5'3.. Had it not been for music he would have been an odd little duck.

Several years ago Dave Grohl was doing an interview when someone asked who the best drummer ever was. Without a hesitation, he said Prince, he said not many people knew that about him but anyone who had the chance to work with him was simply amazed. And a reporter asked Eric Clapton what it was like to be the best guitarist and he said "I don't know, you'll have to ask Prince". He was right up there on the piano too

It looks like Percocet abuse based on the latest from TMZ. He had hip surgery 6 yrs ago from, and I quote "dancing in heels at his shows" and started using Percocet to control the pain. Fast forward to last week, his flu emergency landing was actually a Percocet OD. Wednesday he was spotted outside Walgreens waiting for someone to pick up his prescription and died on Thursday.

Fucking heels caused all this.
