I have to say this is a great improvement over the last generation in terms of styling. Interior looks great too!

Looks like that wing will only be available on the Turbo. The 4S in the video had a 'regular' extending wing.

The current turbo wing already does that... though these new ones look bigger.

Pfft. No missile launchers.

Otherwise, this is a great looking car.

It's weird they're debuting a new turbo engine for this car. The 2.9L. Makes 440hp

Economies of scale would logically say use the 911 3L turbo.

Still as ugly as can be. I heard rumors of a wagon version... that'd solve the styling problem in a hurry

It's not just the ass that was the problem.

There is also a weird transition from the hood to the windshield/a-pillr. It flattens out in a weird way just before.

There are some harsh restrictions on engine sizes in Europe. There's a big difference between 2.9L and 3.0L apparently. Instead of 5.0 V8's you'll see 4.9L versions instead.

Doubt the 911 flat 6's would work without a lot of engineering work. The Panamera and Cayenne share V6 and V8's, so guessing the Cayenne would share this new engine.

Displacement tax is all over the place depending on country, but generally, it goes up every 100cc and also dependent on what emissions level the vehicle is certified for. There is no restriction at all, just that the cars become unappealing when you have to pay $4k in taxes a year to keep it on the road because the engine displacement is too big under a certain emissions standard.

I just hope it makes it into the Macan, it also runs the V6 lineup. And praise the lord if it makes it in there without a turbo badge. Now I know I am dreaming.

440 HP in the Macan would make it very serious, and IMO help justify the cost premium of the turbo.

Consider 3L V6/I6 is the work horse of BMW/Audi/Mercedes, this isn't European focused.

It's Chinese displacement tax:

2.9L = 9%
3.0L = 25%
4.0L = 40%

And these numbers were from 2008, I think it has gone up since and lowered back down for the 1.6-2L class.

Right, I forgot about the V6 architecture. I mean Audi has a nice 3L in the S models. But I like the 2.9 making quite a bit more juice

That makes sense. It's funny how they're sacrificing efficiency in engine designs to cater to absurd displacement tax brackets.

Guess everyone is going to move away from the 0.5L cylinders now.
