I love the way it looks, and was excited...until I realized it's a badge-engineered Nissan.

Leaving the manual hand brake in the cabin is so not MB.

At least it's better looking than other French/MB effort.

Not sure if MB America want a truck, especially a Nissan truck at that but it may not be hard to have them made in Canton, Mississippi in the Nissan truck plant if they want to. Assuming Nissan isn't cancelling Frontier.

Just curious as to how many rebadged vehicles/models MBl has sold in the past? S this something new for them? And for the MB fan boys, wouldn't this be akin to buying a VW rebadged Chrysler minivan? To me it see so MB is diluting the brand a bit, don't bother calling me out on this knowing I'm a Bowtie person because I'll readily admit that GM has never had no issues with rebadging - in fact they're probably at the top of the heap. Just seems odd for MB.

That's because it's a Nissan haha.

Probably just click-bate, but I was reading that there were rumors it might jump the pond at some point

I'd consider rocking one of these; MB tends to do a good job loading up it's 4x4's with off-road goodies
Nah, won't happen, at least for US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tax

We *may* get it in Canada, but only if the market is big enough to pay for certification here.

Doubt it in this case, it's a Nissan engineered vehicle, the chassis won't change at all, just the bodywork/interior.

This is the 2nd vehicle that MB has updated and rebadged under the MB name. Both are from the Nissan/Renault partnership. The first was some small cargo van a couple years back, and now the X-Class. Both are not destined for NA market. Meanwhile, Infiniti got the GLA platform for their Q30 under the partnership. So yes, this is all new to them.

And if anyone brings up the R Class and the old Pacifica, MB only took the idea of a minivan crossover from Chrysler. It was a completely different platform than the Pacifica. But Chrysler did get the SLK as a Crossfire. They even got the AMG version as a Crossfire SRT-6.

The off road version looks a bit better, but that white one is nasty.

Frontier is made in Canton. So theoretically, they can skip the Chicken Tax by building it there, on the same line.

Why would MB and VW not bring their truck versions to NA? Who buys more trucks than us?

Read the Chicken Tax Rage posted.

That's why they can never import these, they won't be competitive in price.

Mid size truck already got a price issue against full size.

Current Jeep Grand Cherokee, Durango and ML/GLE are all based on the same developed platform.

Isn't the SLS and Viper the same car? hahahaha ;)

Yea, MB developed platform, borrowed by Chrysler. Same goes for the 300C, it takes a lot of parts from E class, from suspension to transmission.

From what I heard today, they might get CETA signed... maybe we will see more European cars?

Certification process still doesn't change, they won't bring all Germans cars under the sun if it doesn't have enough volumes. The only brand left we don't get here is French ones.

And I don't think CETA is much about cars anyway. It's more about Canadian cheese can't be call Parmesan any more and such.

Someone else said it best I think:

"Its a truck for Mercedes people, not a Mercedes for truck people."

It will appeal to the group who already have/want a Mercedes suv, but want a bit more utility.

I don't see f150 guys jumping to one of these.

Cool. Honda is probably still pissed tho, because of Brexit. So those UK built Civic Hatches will still have 10% tariff.

Believe it when I see it. There is no way they can make that without watering down and slap a warranty on it.

I don't see f150 guys jumping to one of these. This makes sense. An F150 is still an F150 no matter how much King Ranch you dump on it. If the MB truck was capable, and had useful cargo space, it would be a consideration.
