So I'm extremely bad ad misplacing items, I got some pretty bad ADHD (I take dexedrine for it and because i need to be concentrated for work or it will be expensive it's still hard)

So a couple weeks ago i was cleaning and I misplaced my wallet into a box and lost it for 2-3 weeks had to go get a new one, new id, new bank cards, had money in it.. etc etc I end up finding it and just sighing again since I misplace my keys on a regular basis as well...

I ended up buying this for my Wallet, keys (maybe cell phone?)

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B009JJJ7S4/ref=pe_386430_126088100_TE_item

I'm wondering if people had the same issue as me, if you know me I'm amazing as losing cell phones and wallets in general (usually just misplace keys on a regular basis)

How do i force myself to remember where I placed my keys every day? Like I always try to put them in the same place but you know you come home and just forget to put it on the table and then spend 15 minutes looking for them...

My long-term memory is great and overall I'm pretty organized I'd say. When I'm leaving my house I always ask myself "Keys? Wallet? Cell phone?" and usually like "shit where are my keys" but i never forget to like leave the house without a wallet or cell phone.

Anyone else really bad at this? How did you fix the issue?

Solution: a murse. It'd be damn near impossible to have it "fall out of your pocket"

OP, are you talking about dementia, organizational skills, paranoia?

This, my gf says I need one all the time. It's pretty much standard for me to spend 15 minutes before leaving the house searching for my items.

Everytime I leave my gf yells "wallet, keys, cellphone?" on my way out.

So get an organized girlfriend and buy a murse.

Same spot does make it easier but there could be more fundamental problem at hand.

Say it out loud when you put it down. Really try to emphasize your actions.

Curious, how much would you say you're actively engaging your brain? Do you read (more than forums)? Brain exercising games on your phone are easy. Reading comprehension exercises have helped me immensely over the last year.

I used to go to the fridge often only to forget what I wanted. Go into a room and forget why I was there. Go to the grocery store and forget what I needed.

As cliche as this might sound, you need to be more present in your actions.

I don't think so my mood is usually pretty good, I def don't get easy mood swings, I feel im a lot calmer in situations than most. My problem-solving is very good IMO and

Dementia, also known as senility,[1] is a broad category of brain diseases that cause a long term and often gradual decrease in the ability to think and remember that is great enough to affect a person's daily functioning.[2] Other common symptoms include emotional problems, problems with language, and a decrease in motivation.[2][3] A person's consciousness is usually not affected.[2] A dementia diagnosis requires a change from a person's usual mental functioning and a greater decline than one would expect due to aging.[2][4] These diseases also have a significant effect on a person's caregivers.[2]

I don't see myself falling into those symptoms it's more of guy a regular thing that is super simple i will forget where I misplaced them because they should be on the table, but well the aren't.

I'm going to try to say it out loud each time I place them on the table maybe it will help.

Regarding reading mostly just trying to learn Spanish and research on why things are being used and what not but books in general not really, I wouldn't be able to concentrate at home reading a book. I actually go to the library A LOT to review Poker and learn and to learn Spanish, I'm only going 1-2 times a week right now since I was pretty busy but when I had more time I was going 3-4 times a week. I know at home I'll just get easily distracted and one thing leads to another I'm not practicing/learning anymore.

But ya I really like the saying what I'm going to do out loud and trying to make it a routine let's see if that helps thanks for the suggestion

with tools this is me 100 % I just did it 20 minutes ago. as far as keys, wallet, cell phone go, routine routine routine. come in the house, put them all in one spot in a bowl or something and that's where they will always be.

You forgot the "I don't even remember going into that room today... how the f*** is it in there."

Also my favorite:
"This makes sense to put this here because it associates with this"
*go and find object*
*use object*
"actually it makes more sense to put it with this over here"
*repeat*
*cannot find object in any of the 4 places that it would make sense to be in.

Tile and Trackr are two bluetooth devices that attach well to wallets, keys ect. They are fairly thin so they dont get in the way. I think they would be much better than the huge devices you have coming.

The caviet however, is that they use your phone. You lose your phone, they you are hooped. But you can call it or use something like cereberus to track/force it to make a noise.

These things are great. They wont let you lose your things by notifying you if you are leaving them.

Either of these will solve your misplacement problem 100% guaranteed.

Because you will no longer be misplacing things, but rather people will be taking your murse/fanny pack and hiding it from you

I was reading the Tile is glitchy and there was a lot of complaints about it online. It was cheaper I think?

This one also has a 6mm fob? for my wallet

I bought some of those cheap $2 ones on ebay but they suck..

This is what I do....keys and wallet into the bowl every time I get home. And all keys, for the daily and the Civic, that way I should always know where they are when I need them.

I have a checklist before I leave the house. It usually goes "phone/wallet/keys?", but if I have other things I need to take, it might go "phone/wallet/keys/cheque/receipt?"

This prompts me to go get those things and then leave.

Has helped immensely.

Maybe it's OCD but I put everything in the same place all the time. I'm a person that likes routine as I like to be as efficient with my time as possible.

I did this once as well :D, just not in that era I think it was around 97-98

I'm bad for misplacing stuff all the time especially tools. What helps me for keys, wallet and phone, is I have several drop spots that I tend to put my things so instead of looking everywhere, I go to these spots and it's usually at one of them. You can put small trays at these locations to make it easier. Having just one spot doesn't work for me.

Did you wait til the mall closed so you could see that your car was the only one left in the lot, only to realize you took the bus? :D

LOL Kobe...you poker players amaze me. You can look at a board and know exactly how many "outs" there are, what the percentage is in your hand, and recall the hands of a play a week previous.
I can't even remember what my last hand was!!

ROFL....my life. Every. Single. Day.
I like to use the excuse that I have that much more "data" that has to be processed by my brain than it did 20 years ago. I need a faster/bigger cpu. At any one moment I'm trying to remember half a dozen different jobs and customers, who's email to respond to that day, what materials are needed for tomorrow, blah blah blah. And then I walk up to my customers house and call them by a wrong name!

God I miss my fanny pak days of the 90's. Greatest things evar!! Wallet, keys, cell phone, glasses, et al. Who the hell ever decided it was out of fashion?! I saw a business man the other day with his 'murse' and I was quite jealous. But I just couldn't pull it off. There are some things I just can't do...fannypak, murse, socks with sandals, crocs in public.

I was in high school...rode my bike to the store. Filled up a slurpee. Before I got to the counter, I thought to myself, "Oh I should get something to drink" and grabbed a bottle of coke. I then walked home and thought....why the hell do I have TWO drinks in my hand??? And then realized I forgot my bike at the store!!

I can't even remem

Hehe to be fair I try to forget about the hands I played as soon as the game is done, i'll usually just remember a couple after the game is done. but during the game I do try to remember everything. I guess I also put in the effort to remember it though....

The odds is just math though the better you get at it the easier and quicker you do it..

2+2 = 4 doesn't take much thinking each card on the river gives you 2.5% equity outs = possible cards to help you it's pretty easy to calculate.

More recreational players try to remember their bad beats and their winning hands after a week or a month or a year ffs to tell everyone at the casino their "cool" stories :D I remember two bad beats from a long time ago only because it was extremely gross and happened same way twice haha..

But ya maybe it's because i try to just forget the game (to keep from going insane) after a pretty short period of time that i can't remember where my keys and wallet are daily :D

Wasn't at any mall, was downtown street parking. Was working nights at TELUS, got downtown around 11pm to discover something was going on that filled up all the street parking. Now I always parked on 1st Street SW just north of the old Sheraton that used to be on the NW corner of 1st Street and 4th Avenue SW but on this particular evening a parked a few blocks to the northwest. Went to work, had an incredibly insane busy night and came out the next morning pretty much shell shocked. Walked to my regular spot and no car, now I did remember parking elsewhere at that point but I just couldn't remember where. Almost an hour later I finally located my car, good thing it was nice out.
