Not sure if useful but a link (https://vts.511.alberta.ca/VTS/) to a nap that shows the location of snowplows in Alberta, it would appear snowplows that are provincially contracted.

From a Reddit user, there are many county/MD contracted snowplows that do not show up on the Alberta map.

Oh, there's many more things that are GPS tracked but you and I just don't get to see them. TELUS had GPS tracking on their vehicles some 15-20 years ago and most likely many other companies and governments did as well but the general public doesn't really care where a garbage truck or a grader might be. Plow end roads, on the other hand, are something that a government probably gets a lot of calls about so a live map of them could sate the concerns of a lot of these people.

Here in edmonton we are apparently using full on pea gravel for our roads. 2 months into a very mild winter and so far I'm down a new windshield and have a smashed fog light.

I can follow a truck 40 car lengths back and still here the rocks hitting me.

Sorry guys, slightly OT but this is near and dear to a particularly sore subject with me.
Calgary, what is with all the F'ING salt??!! Jesus, is it me or has the city decided its ok to engage in a scorched earth policy when it comes to its salt application?
Over the past 3 or 4 years its seems to have been ramped up to near Ontario levels here in the city.
In the west end its so bad on our street that my garage floor and driveway are being eaten alive. Underside of car is showing signs of decay already as a result.
Has anyone felt the same or is it just me? Do we have any recourse with the city?

Yes, I agree its excessive, and the City seems to have no clue that the more salt you put down doesn't mean the freezing point of water keeps going down, after a certain solution point, the freezing point actually rises.

I always found Calgary was better than other cities for salt. Here is what and how they use their various resources.

And that de-icer they use is fucking annoying as the roads get all wet and slushy and at night making roads dangerous.
