Just curious. I know in a few old posts, some people have said they prefer one over the other.

My neighbor has cool white, and it looks ugly as hell IMO. I suppose it might depend on your interior design style too. His is "old man stuck in the 70's". Really doesn't make his glorious green carpet look anymore attractive.

I bought cool white and ended up returning for warm. Felt like I was in a hospital or something, resulted in headaches.

Cool white works well in the garage though!

Warm. We even run them in the office, I'd kill myself if I had to sit in cool white light all day long. Bothers me.

I think its weird how people can have the cool led's at home, feels way too much like office lighting

Cool White seem institutional so it's Warm White for us at home. I don't mind having the Daylight / Bright White in the garage though, seems to be about halfway in between.

You're missing the bright white option which is 3000k. I have bright white in the kitchen and its great. Warm white (2700k) everywhere else thoguh.

I get lighting to match the color balance of the HDTV, which is an older fluorescent lit, so I prefer 2700K.

3000K seems to be most popular though, only people who like to simulate blue sky go much higher than that.

Same here. I thought I was the only one that hated it.

I absolutely hate cool white lights. It actually changes the atmosphere in the home.

3000K Bright White is perfect for me at home.

Cool white in the garage.

You can probably get away with cool white in your home in a really modern looking design. But I agree with most here; warm in house, and cool in garage and maybe kitchen.

Warm all the way. Got the cool white for our living room lights and replaced them after 2 hours of use.

Totally depends on the room, wall colors, furniture colors, etc. Some rooms work better with cool, some rooms better with warm.

3000K bright white is best

I have cool white in the garage, but I'm not convinced it's better than bright... more of a throwback to fluorescent-lit garage/workshop. Will probably swap them out eventually.

In bedrooms I use 2700K

In common areas and outside I use 3000K

I have never found a place where I like using 5000K

not a huge fan of the rape museum vibe, so I like the warm in almost all cases.

Go LED white trash color.
Mix the two colored bulbs in one fixture.

Once I tried Sylvania micro-mini 23w 3500K CFLs there was no turning back. Maximum lumens per watt and just slightly on the warm side of pure white. They are a bitch to find, I seem to be stockpiling in case they go off the market, heh. Sofa king bright!

Dunno how to vote based on this color being in the middle. I doin't like how dull 2700k looks, so seventies/eighties, but cool white isn't cozy by any means.

The only place where I use 2700k are night lights for the kids.

White is right, regardless of the temperature. :D

Generally in living areas, bedrooms, etc. I strongly prefer Warm.

I have one hallway that is a bit dim generally speaking, and bright white LEDs (3000k) do a LOT to brighten it up. I also don't mind them in the kitchen (e.g. a few pot lights). Anything higher than 3000k is not for me.

Generally speaking - warm all the way but bright has a few applications where I don't mind it (wouldn't go as far to say as prefer it).

oh wow i didn't think people felt so strongly about cool white.

I am cool white everywhere. House, garage, bathroom, kitchen; everywhere lol.

I think its literally just our bedroom wall sconces that we have a warm white.

Someone mentioned that it could be the design of our home, that's definitely a possibility why the white lights look really nice? We don't use a lot or have many warm colours. Our cabinets and hardwood are all deep dark brown. All the baseboards and doors in my house are a dark blue with grey undertone. Most of our furniture is dark brown, dark grey, or black. My walls are light grey with blue undertone.

Cool white works well when you have dark walls/cabinets/furniture/accents. It's rooms that's light in color that makes cool white look like, as buh_buh calls it, a rape museum. The light colors brings out the blue in cool white, which is where the problem lies.

One of our kids' rooms is filled with color. Purples, blues, reds, browns, just a huge assortment of colors. The normal temp we use there is around 4500-5000k. Switch to a 3000k mode (we're using Hue bulbs here) and the vibrancy is gone and it looks like a room from the 50's.

Yeah, it has a lot to do with interior colors (more so the color temp), warmer grey vs a cooler grey will look totally different when running a 5000K bulb.

High CRI bulbs will reduce the rape museum effect a bit and look closer to actual daylight.
