Just noticed this today but I've been getting charged 13% tax by Adobe.

I had no idea that a subscription product charged in USD could be charged 5% GST, also in USD, then converted to CAD on your CC.

I've never encountered this before and I also subscribe to other things like music streaming.

It's exactly the same either way.

$9.99 * 1.05 * 1.35 = $14.16

$9.99 * 1.35 * 1.05 = $14.16

Mine looks OK, I always pay around $14/mo.

Guys it's not the math that I'm talking about when converting and such. It's about being charged GST in US dollars which I didn't even realize was a thing, regardless if the outcome is the same. I wonder why this is.

At any rate, double check your statements as for whatever reason I've been getting charged 13% HST despite my billing and shipping address being in Alberta.

GST in USD is fine since it's on the lower, USD price. It's exactly the same either way they do it so it doesn't really matter. B&H, Monoprice, Amazon, and others do the same thing when you order from them and let them handle the import fees.

I'm only getting charged 5% (on USD $9.99) and then the conversion into CAD is correct regardless of how they do it. If you're getting charged HST in Alberta that sounds like a totally different issue or an outright mistake by Adobe.

I'm getting charged 5% on $7.99 USD.
