    Default GT 300 Project

Hey everyone, thought I'd post the pics of a GT 300 Project
I'm warning you there will be a large number of pictures, but i wont post them all at the same time, i will update the first post of this thread, whenever i have time, so keep checking for updates.

All the design and management and nearly all of the work was done alone, only certain parts manpower was needed, such as weighty objects. The maximum # of people working on the project was about 8 people.

The GT 300 was designed with maximum reliability and to have the easiest maintenance

It is a fully custom car made from scratch, the process was that a sketch was made, then the chassis was designed to handle more than 400 HP.

Then the body was designed for maximum aerodynamic and equal down force on all four wheels.
The GT components were put in such specific spots that the curb weight of all the wheels are the same to pairs.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    In summary, the car has:

-- The chassis has two space frame boxes, and aluminum bonding on both sides for maximum chassis stiffness and for the protection of the driver.

-- It has a safety crash box for absorption of sudden accidents.

    - It has a safety roll cage on the rear and the front for accidents which will roll the GT. The roll cage on the front is positioned higher and more to the front than the steering wheel. This is so when the GT rolls the steering wheel will not hit the hands of the driver and does not cause any damage

-- The position of the gas tank is in a secure place (exactly in the central gravity of the car) so when the gas tank is filled and emptied between races, the central gravity of the car does not change

-- The weight will change depending on the type of engine placed inside. The curb weight of the GT 300 is between 630kg - 680kg.

-- Lock to Lock of the steering wheel is only 1.8 turns

-- The rack and pinion steering box was placed behind the front suspension so when there is an accident the steering parts will not come towards the driver.

-- The extension of the steering shaft has the ability to absorb the shock of an accident.

-- The chassis is designed in a way that when driver sits in the car, its so rigid that its deformable, this means that when there is an accident, the front or the rear or even the sides, will absorb the shock of the accident, leaving the driver fully safe.

-- The whole body of the car can be taken off with 8 quick release pins and clamps.

-- The engine bay is designed in a way that the engine can be replaced by the trained, in only 15 minutes

-- The pedals of the GT 300 are adjustable, meaning they can go back or up, the seat is adjustable too. Even the position of the steering wheel is adjustable. In the other types of these cars, the seat, pedals, and steering wheel are usually in fixed positions.

-- The whole underside of the GT 300 is designed in a way to pass airflow to the diffusers for maximum down force and aerodynamic efficiency. This is done with a full aluminum sheet.

-- In this car, the track, wheel base, camber, caster, tow in and tow out are all adjustable. This means that depending on experience of the driver, they can adjusted. It allows the drivers to have their own maximum performance depending on their habits.

-- The hydraulic brake pressure of the front and rear wheels are also adjustable. This means that you can change the time of locking brakes, between front and rear wheels. Depending on which circuit you are using, it is adjustable.

-- The suspension is designed in a way that it is Anti - Dive. If many of you recall, old cars, when they break the tip of the car points down, this anti-dive, causes the whole car to drop down. It gets the maximum traction during the hard breaking.

*-*-*-* One of the most important parts in the design of the suspension is the rear suspension, it adjusts itself like auto directional steering. Same as 4 string wheels. This is Dependant on the speed and the G-Force

    TIME FOR PICS!!

The pictures here, shows the exact replica of the sketch design, which was put in real dimensions.

We Are Now Ready For Detailing

The basic platform of the model is now ready for detailing

The most important thing is, that while the model is being made, it must be an exact replica of the sketch. The clearance between the body and the moving parts (suspension) must be precisely 5mm (some parts of the body due to aerodynamic). If it is any less or more, we are in big trouble

    Starting with the detailing

The body must be, and is, symmetrical. This is because of the effect of the aerodynamic in high speeds

Here is the chassis, im looking for a few more good ones

badatusrnames: I had written that this was made before, but once i started cleaning up the layout of the big post i must've deleted it sorry
the car was not built in Calgary.
the car can be driven on the street and on the circuit.

And as for the car being mine, yes it is mine. All the descriptions and pictures you see above are written by me and taken by me.

Thanks for the posts by the way

""EDIT"" btw im planning on shipping the car to calgary, so i'll be waiting for spotted threads soon, hehe

So is the body permantly put onto the chassis, or is it like other race cars where it is seperate and comes off?

Yes the body is separate, it is put on with pins to hold it securely on, and can be taken off very quickly

so if trained people can replace the engine in 15 minutes
the body needs to come off quick

they were also built in various stages too
