Thanksgiving Dinner(s) quote:

So when do you guys eat your Thanksgiving dinners? Do you get multiple dinners? Who cooks?

I just got in the mood because the cafeteria at my work is serving Thanksgiving dinner right now and I am in love.... Mmmmm... my family is all in Sask this year and the little one is with his dad so I'm actually all alone on real Thanksgiving :*( Poor me... LOL

Our big one is Saturday this year cause my brother's g/f is having the big one with her family on Sunday. We're a small enough family to accomodate it, so no biggie.

We do ours as sort of a pot luck situation. Mom and dad cook the big stuff, brother/gf and me/husband split the rest and bring it over to their place.

Depends on how it's done. Anyone from Newfoundland knows my disappointment for mainland Turkey dinners.

a) Dinner is at noon......every day. It's synonymous with lunch and confused the hell out of me when I had to try and figure out why mainlanders consider it supper.

b) Stuffing is cooked inside/outside the turkey, whatever the opposite is that you do it here, I think it's outside. I just remember wondering why it tasted so differently.

c) Savoury! Why can't you buy savoury anywhere outside the island? It's a staple ingredient in stuffing and should not be overlooked.

/lighthearted criticism

So I usually base it on who cooks it the closest to back home style.

Sunday at my house.

My mom is cooking turkey and stuffing and crown-roast of pork to bring over, as well as a pumpkin and an apple pie.

My brother and his wife are bringing a prosciutto salad.

My Niece and her hubby are bringing a veggie dish.

Me and my wife are cooking the mashed taters, sweet-taters, and a veggie dish.

Its going to be wonderful.

FYI - That was far too small to be a turkey leg and it's not cranberry sauce on your chin but SJW says thanks for the memories.
