Default Nissan Gets to the Bottom of GTR Launch Control

Well it looks like Nissan has finally got to the bottom of the launch control issues with the GT-R, just remove it.
"It's gone," he said when asked if launch control would return in 2010. "We just don't want to deal with the warranty nightmare anymore. It'll make the 2009 GT-R really special. It'll be the only R35 with launch control." -- Kelly Toepke, News Editor

So.. What does this mean? Was there any testing on 0-60/Quarter mile without launch control?

Very interesting.. So now without actually saying it (Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06 Z06) the *** is the best bang for the buck, undoubtedly huh?

It gives consumers the impression that they are dumbing down the car (although I have no actual source regarding what new 0-60 times would be) and at this point in time when they are challenging other affordable competitors that are only getting stronger and stronger...corvette...thats going to make them look like the lesser choice for an affordable supercar - The exact image they originally envisioned to dominate.

    Perhaps redesign, not remove.

well an 09 will be the same deal.. as long as you dont use launch control.. i dont see the problem..

Plus the GT-R is AWD!! it has enough launch control!! and will still play with Z06's. So lets not shit out panties right away.

And as an Engineering student it is quite obvious someone in the R&D of that launch control screwed up, and the repair of that offense only exponential increases as the production reachs the final stage. Now Nissan has two options, redesign the launch control possibly altering the price range of the Nissan to a level they choose not to be in, or remove the launch control considering engineering data and realize it is still an extremely well performing car.

This may sound retarded, but how do you launch a car with dsg with out launch control.

it sucks that they took it out, but i don't think that'll "break" the car. it's still a pretty good performance bang for the buck, but whether or not it's a better value than the ZR1 I'm not going to debate that. Alot of other cars don't have launch control so i don't really get what the big deal is. It was nice that it did have launch control, but that was just a bonus IMO. This shouldn't really affect "talented" drivers.

I always thought that launch control was sorta... cheating anyways

In Jeremy Clarkson's new dvd Thriller, he shows the warranty about the launch control, but then he activates it because the car isn't his

Wow... Nissan is absolutely retarded. I don't understand how they didn't see issues with warranty coming. They should have taken the time to design the car right, so it could last, or not given it launch control at all in the first place. Just shows that Nissan cannot build a quality 'super car.'

However I'm not saying this car isn't fast otherwise... Just they seem to have ruined the GT-R's appeal to a lot of people by fucking up on the transmission/launch control/warranty so bad, as well as the whole Nurburgring lap time 'scandal'.

I'm interested if Nissan is just going to offer anything to the '09 GT-R owners, although thus far I highly doubt they'll do anything.

I also am curious to what they'll do with the V-Spec GT-R now regarding launch control or transmission problems.
