    Now this:

Hunt on for men who shot ducks from car window
Last Updated: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 | 4:28 PM MT

Wildlife officials in Western Canada are looking for three men who posted a YouTube video showing them shooting ducks, sometimes from inside a car.

The four-minute video, which shows the trio firing at baby ducks in a pond and repeatedly blasting away at the remains of one duck, appeared on the popular website last week.

After examining the video, officials said it was likely filmed in southern Alberta. It shows the men firing at ducks from a car, then laughing at the results.

"Dude, that one's still alive," one of the men is heard to say on the video, followed by the sound of gunfire.

"Oh yeah! I nailed him on the move!" another comments.

Saskatchewan's environment ministry is working with officials in Alberta to try to identify the men in the video.

Photos of the trio have been sent to conservation officers across the Prairies.

Outrage over the video led to the creation of a Facebook page run by several hunters.

"These guys are not hunters! They are poachers!" the Facebook page reads. "Everyone should be disgusted by the total lack of regard for the law, and lack of respect for the animals."

According to Darrell Crabbe, executive director of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, the video indicates the men have broken several hunting and firearms laws, including shooting out of a vehicle.

He said they deserve to have "the book" thrown at them.

"Their knuckles must be dragging on the ground," Crabbe said. "To do it in the first place is unthinkable. But to actually put it and promote it as a YouTube video ... I just can't shake my head enough how ridiculous and stupid that was."

Duck hunting season in most Prairie provinces does not start until September.

Like some of the comments on the CBC page...

"Send them to Afghanistan if they like shooting stuff".

Sounds to me like even the hunters out there are outraged.

Traditionally, it's the hunters who are most outraged when shithead motherfuckers like this stick their heads out.

Reminds me of those fucking dirtbags in Sask that chased that moose around shooting it with a .22 a couple years ago. Fucking cocksuckers.

Some have said that they're not ducks but swamp hens ?

If that's the case it's no different than shooting gophers.

The firearms offenses, and they seem to be numerous, will stand.

If they are ducks, those boys are fawked. Their vehicles, guns, fines, time in the big house with guys who like baby ducks List of charges will be very long.

The video clearly shows mud hens (American Coot) being shot at. Mud hens have a distinctive bob in their head when they are swimming.

Obviously the firearms offenses will stand, but it looks like no ducks were harmed in the making of that video.

You would think. I mean even if they did it over a unsecured wifi they still need to sign up for a user name on the site probably using their hotmail account. They're not that smart if they're uploading this to youtube anyway. I'm sure you could track it down that the account was accessed by the same IP at least once or twice.

The video I posted was not the original. Someone reposted it in hopes of catching the guys. I didn't look for the original on youtube.

Really? This is news? Someone shooting birds GASP....A MONTH EARLY!!!! ZOMG!!!!!

Ducks / Mud Hens / Whatever. It's not like they're shooting pets / livestock / children. If they are ducks, does 30 days on a calendar make a difference? The only problem I see is that using a .22 may do more wounding than killing.

I think it's the whole shooting-on-a-roadway-from-a-moving-car-without-any-licence-or-tags-and-giving-good-hunters-a-bad-name thing that has people peeved.

The video only has the "shooting-from-a-vehicle-and-acting-like-white-trash" issue against the guys doing the shooting.

The media is responsible for misidentifying the mud hens as "ducks" and turning the entire video into a media circus.

It would be the same as if the guys were shooting gopher (prairie dogs) and the media was in a panic about people shooting puppies.

The hunters are pissed because their "sport" don't need any more bad publicity or resulting extra regulations.

Glad they weren't ducks. It would be a shame to waste ducks like that.

Really though, you never see anyone complaining about people shooting a whole field of gophers.

Yes, this is true. It bastardizes actual hunters / the sport of hunting.

But as for the birds themselves, who cares.

I don't care what birds they are, shooting them in a lake for fun is absolutely uncalled for.
