Theft at Sunridge Nissan quote:

This is actually kind of impressive on the criminals part.

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating the theft of at least 12 brand new Nissan vehicles from a northeast dealership.

The vehicles, stolen from Sunridge Nissan, 3131 32 Ave. N.E., are worth an estimated $361,000.

The keys for the stolen vehicles were taken from the dealership’s office during a break-in on Sunday, July 24, 2011. The offenders are believed to have entered the dealership through the main door. During an inventory count, it was noted that 12 vehicles were missing.

Below is a list of the stolen vehicles:

2011 Nissan Titan (White)
2011 Nissan Pathfinder (White)
2011 Nissan Titan (White)
2011 Nissan Titan (White)
2011 Nissan Titan (White)
2011 Nissan Frontier (Silver)
2012 Nissan Altima (Black)
2012 Nissan Altima (Black)
2012 Nissan Altima (Brown)
2011 Nissan Titan (Black)
2011 Nissan Rogue (Dark Grey)
2011 Nissan Rogue (White)

Police are warning the public to be cautious when purchasing any of the listed Nissan vehicles, especially those with particularly low mileage. Ask the seller to produce proper documentation of ownership. These vehicles have been flagged and will not be able to be registered.

How does one simply walk in through the main door and drive out with 12 cars? This is some seriously organized shit.

They broke in and stole the keys, then drove away in 12 new cars
Sucks for them, but this is pretty badass, kind of gone in 60 seconds, but in this case, one gone every 5 seconds. Probably far away from calgary already though heading towards the coast.

Security camera's? Do they even have any? lol

It's funny I used to work for a company that was hired for third party online advertising of use car inventory's..

A lot of these places do not really lock up their keys that well.. I know Cochrane dodge is probably the easiest to steal from. Platinum Mitsubushi would be pretty easy to knock over as well.

And most of them use the same system for locking up their keys (these plastic keyfobs with teeth on the end, stick it in, twist, key released). Easy to reproduce them.

To be honest I had the thought many times of doing this same shit, but I'm not a criminal, soo yeah.

They had it coming to them.

Most Nissan dealerships have security key computers that need logins/pass to open up the box containing the keys so has to be inside job.

UNLESS, one scenario is, these were fresh vehicle drop-offs as carriers like to drop off cars at night and the keys were in the overnight drop off slot. Or somebody left the keys laying around on a desk.

When i was 18 i worked at a fairly large dealership. They used to carry about 200+ new trucks and suv's, the lot guy was found to have close to 30 new trucks stashed away at his grandmothers farm, about half were in the various outbuildings/ barns. He was parting these units out slowly, and even sold several complete units. The dealership had enough money to carry the cost of inventory instead of financing through the bank so they did not have random inventory audits, and said lot guy was not even booking in some of the units off the carrier, they would have say 20 white extended cab trucks in stock at one time, so if one missing was not to huge a deal, managers would think they were on loan or demo. He got away with it for over a year.

my dealership does not. I'm pretty sure Sunridge just has a key room. They also have an offsite lot for their inventory

Such that type of theft had to be planned - that's for sure without a doubt. The Nissan dealership in NE isn't that far from Deerfoot Tr. so it's most likely maybe used as part of their plan.

The way the news was saying about the break-in ... looks to me there was the possibility of a semi-trailer enclosed somewhere nearly by. Barlow Tr is also close by and a lot of trucks are roaming around there (nearly streets). With that many enclosed trailer-towed semi rigs mixed all over - makes a good getaway cover-up since the police was focused at the dealership the moment that break-in happened.

Whoever pulled off knew about the timing and that do require quite bit of time to plan! I suspected one person at Nissan had to be bribed. I didn't see whatever if the break-in by main door was done by key or breaking glass to get in?

That is a very good theory. I never thought about that. With your theory, the semi-trailer has to have been parked very close as most cars on the lot, when they are unloaded off the carrier, barely have any gasoline in the fuel tank. Gas is only added IF during PDI process not enough gas to make a road test OR during a test drive in which they prolli throw in $5-10.
