    Default car2go

Has anyone tried this program? Seems kind of expensive for about $12 bucks per hour when you can rent a car for a whole day for around $20 to 50 bucks without having to rush. Kind of a cool program nonetheless how you don't need to fill up for gas or worry about parking fees.

I believe if the car leaves the home area, the clock keep ticking as well until it returns to the inner city.

It's not cheap but it's supposed to be a good alternative to a cab if you live in home area.

Start to see them around 17th, parking like ass.

I have seen them spattered all over crescent heights and other nearby areas. I think they are a somewhat clever idea, but I expect that like all other similar programs in other places, the cars will eventually go to crap and nobody will want to use the service.

It looks like it is basically up to the guy after you to report any damage you have done to the car. Aside from that detail they sound somewhat useful, but IMO they picked the wrong car.

I see quite a bit of comedy value to them, especially since they are billed by the minute, so if you live in the home zone and hate your neighbors you could go get 50 of them and fill all of the available parking for blocks.

Alternatively you could round up 200 friends and do some kind of flash mob. You could all dress up the same and all go through the drivethru together and order exactly the same thing.

If you use the code ONWARD there's no registration fee. I signed up for the hell of it. I foresee myself walking downtown, seeing one and driving it 4 blocks out of sheer laziness.

Yeah I signed up for the hell of it too (using the same ONWARD code).

Interesting to note that you can park (free of charge/permit) in:
    - Any legal curb side parking space in residential neighborhoods, including residential permit only parking areas.
    - Any on-street ParkPlus parking space, as long as there are no parking or stopping restrictions at any time.

    LOL.

Seriously though, you can hold on to the key if you're just stopping off somewhere so nobody else can take it.

For 70 dollars a day and in a City where most people own cars, I dont see this as a great business plan.

if you live inner city and drive only on weekends for a few hours and only stay in the inner city, its great. once you park it you are not paying.

For a couple bucks it's worth it for me to grab a car by my office during lunch time, drive it to a restaurant in another part of downtown then park it for free while I eat.

Rather than use my own car and gas, then have to park somewhere for $9 an hour.

When you take the key out with you as a "stopover" you're still paying the rental time

You really gotta read the site, haha.

If you hold on to the key then you are charged while it's parked, hence why people would only do it if they're running in for latte/beret. The only way to avoid being charged while parked is to "log off" and make the car available to others.

car rental is a hassle, first you have to get to the rental place... then you wait in line... even if there is no line it still takes you 30min to get the paperwork sorted...

free parking pretty much pays for your car use with this anyway
