BEYOND (20% off) OJO COUPON CODE: terrysp20
ojocam.com
Hey All, I was surfing the Blackvue thread and saw a few people who were disappointed with the service and attention from them, and some people had suggestions for alternatives, well the OJO cam was one of them, and I decided to try this one out.
A lot of people here dismiss products just based on price, they assume price = quality, which is not always the case... I think that's why the OJOcam has been largely overlooked.
When the cam was posted in the blackvue thread, it was just before valentines day, and there was a 20% off coupon, so with this coupon I ordered 2 cameras, total came to around $208USD all in. I did have a minor issue with the order, I was refunded because I had missed putting on a shipping address through paypal, so Larry from ojo emailed me informing me of this and asking I place a new order, he was very fast and responsive, typically taking less than 24 hours to respond to all of my inquiries.
Anyway, I received the 2 cameras in 1 week from shipping date, pretty quick, I think they shipped from LA, no duty or taxes or anything, which was good for me. Initial impressions were good, they are tiny, lots of features and good quality, the one I got included GPS and G-Shock sensor.
Here's a pic, the SD card adapter is not included, just added to the pic for size reference.

The camera is nice and small, got it mounted up in my 98 civic first, mounted it right at the top of the windshield, totally invisible from outside the car. (last pic shows nothing... that's the point )

Also installed one in my mazda 6, this one I had to go a little different on, the mirror is closer to the roof so it didn't really work in the same place, this one is a bit obvious from outside, but much less than the previous cams.

And here's a shot of the program that comes with it, after you insert your SD card and run the camera it copies the program on to your SD and you can install it with a double click on to any pc in only a few seconds (requires quicktime)

After running this for about a week, I am impressed, Quality is really good (keep in mind when watching the videos, my car is 15 years old, probably close to the original windshield, some really good pitting on it), GPS program is accurate and impressive for being free/included, haven't looked in to the G-shock sensor, but I assume it will just make the files which qualify to not be overwritten.
Anyway, on to the sample vids, first is just a video of the program running, shows the GPS, speed etc... pretty boring, the program is VERY basic, not a lot of options as far as full screen or PIPing the map or anything like that, which would be cool features.. feel free to skip around within it...
Next is the Day time clip, a 5 minute clip of driving around, again, boring, but it just gives you an idea of the quality... it's very blue at the top half because of the factory "brow" tinting on my window because the camera is mounted so high... it's typically not that blue.
And then a night clip, again, 5 minutes, I like to have the clips longer to avoid the 1/4 second blip between videos, it's really not bad at all, but I am picky that way
This one also has the "Gps" data overlay turned on for this recording.
So after running this cam for over a week, I have been in contact with the seller Larry from OJOcam.com and asked him about a potential group buy, he said with the 20% off I had already received, that's pretty near cost and he couldn't go any further, so I figured a group buy would just complicate things and I asked him for a coupon code that would prolong the coupon I had received, and then people could just buy them one off direct from him, he was very willing to assist with this, and provided this coupon code.
20% off Coupon code: terrysp20
Usable on www.ojocam.com
I am in no way affiliated with or receiving any special treatment from this site or this company, just found a good cam, at a reasonable price, and wanted to pass it on to beyonders as the dashcam market and demand is growing rapidly, and you never really know who you can trust...
Also they do have other cams on there, I have not tested any except for the one in this link, and that's what this thread is based on: http://www.ojocam.com/ojocam-pro-das...act-detection/
And also a vid for hardwiring

Hey guys, just wanted to update you and let you know that Larry at OJO sent me an email, they have a new camera available for only $10 more than the Pro, it's the PRO 2 with 50% better video processing, it's a 3mp sensor instead of the 2MP which is currently in the PRO, i have one on the way and will post it up when i receive it.

Also Larry told me that this promo code has been used 45 times (not counting how many people just surfed there and used his 20% off code that's typically on the site)
He wanted me to pass on his thanks to all of you who who have purchased from his site
I also spoke with Larry and suggested he had the hardwire kit as an option when purchasing the cameras, within minutes he had added that option, since a lot of us like to go that route, that'll save us from having to take apart the car charger!just twist this on to your add a fuse and you're in business!
