    Buy a cat.

In 19 years of having one, we never once had any issues in the house (aside from "presents" being brought back by the cat a few times), even though there were a few in the garage for a bit.

Seal outside entry sources, then set traps with peanut butter as bait.

    Done.

As a veteran of the mousewars, all I can say is: CAT.

Not only will it patrol your house, but let it out in the yard every day, and it will create a perimeter.

Go to the meow foundation, and get a "playful" cat that is very responsive to a toy being danged in front of it... more likely to be a good mouser.
