What to do on the sides of the house

So I have a walkout, which means the sides of the house are pretty sloped. In my experience, the sun doesn't hit those sides and I think it's a waste to put grass there.

That being said, what are some options to make it look good down the sides of the house without grass? Keep in mind I will need to roll the lawnmower up and down, so some sort of stone will probably be required.

Any ideas or pics of what you guys have on the side of your house with a slope? The sides of the house are east/west facing.

Maybe I'm not clear. On both sides of the driveway there will be grass. After my fence going to my back yard is what I'm trying to do.

I put down washed rock (mix of limestone and brown washed) on 1 side and grass on the larger side yard. Even pushing the mower up the hill on the washed rock isn't too bad... the rock hasn't started to slide or shift or anything either after being down for 5 years. Weed barrier underneath is of course mandatory.

If you walk on that side, use paving stones along with gravel on the sides. If you dont, just gravel it.

If you need a weed barrier, don't use that black fabric. That shit is useless for many reasons.

Use a mid grade plastic tarp.

The black fabric works if you don't buy the cheap stuff. Tarp? Don't you want the water to drain?

You can even layer the so called higher quality stuff, and the weeds will come through exponentially. Further to that, the stuff quickly rots, and gets pulled up when you try and pull the weeds out. And even further to that, well, it's got HOLES all over it lol. Those holes may look small, but they're large enough for weed / grass tips to poke their way through, and continuously make the hole larger.

Plastic tarp has none of those issues. You don't need drainage holes on a slope. If drainage holes are needed, a 1" hole for every 4 ft by 4 ft will suffice.

Bingo! There are many better and different mil thickness and types of weed barrier fabric, but the main way to control weed growth is to make sure the amount of rock is sufficient. Don't put down 1" of gravel and expect no weeds, as that isn't going to happen. We have roughly 3" of washed rock and zero weed growth.

Weed barrier helps also...don't be obtuse.
