    Default Garbage

    http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/WRS/Pages/...or-pickup.aspx

So during the week I ended up digging out one of those Fairy rings (the mushroom rings) from my lawn. And I ended up with about 15 extra bags of soil. I plan to just put these next to my bin but Im not sure how much of these bags the garbage guy will actually pick up and put in his garbage truck. Has anyone else ever done this and had the city put it all in the truck?

If it's decent quality black top soil I could take it; I'd take mushrooms over all the damn dandelions I have now.

My garbage guys are lazy and take none of that.
You'll spend 15 weeks putting one into the black bin every week.
Or cut that time down and use all the neighbours' too!

Its all attached to the lawn so no use. However if you are looking for cheap top soil I recommend superstore - they had 40L bags for $2 when I went there on saturday.

I've left a bag or two a few times without issue; never 15 though. Probably depends on your garbage collector and what his mood is that day.

Bag or two per week, plus one in each neighbors bin every week. Gone inside a month.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Turned out I had 8 left after loading up my neighbors bins. I put my bins next to my neighbors and put 4 on each side. The garbage man took all of it.

I have two more rings to dig up tonight so I'll try putting more out now that I know he will take atleast 8 bags.

I made the mistake of going to SpyHill to dump all of my weedy/grassy dirty from recently landscaping. I was charged $90 for the haul.

I almost shit myself when the guy told me. He said "Next time, dump it off at some construction site. You are better off"

Fill the black bin, the blue bin and the green bin. Should take care of 9 bags

Also, when it comes, which bin am I supposed to put the green on into? Can the recycle it?

We dont have a green bin until next year.

Im sure the green bin will have a smaller weight limit than the current 220 pounds on the black bin.

Well I dug out the next mushroom patch and now I have 20 bags of turf. Probably will do the last one tonight as long as its fine.

Green bin is MUCH smaller than the other two. It sucks... can't even get all of our grass clippings in there.

Do you guys get your black bin emptied every week? I think they changed ours to every two weeks once they rolled out the green bins in our neighbourhood

Its every week until we get those green bins. Im not looking forward to our garbage stinking for 2 weeks. Apparently its the same system in vancouver except they have raccoons - atleast we dont have that problem.

ya the bad part of the green bins is the every two weeks on the black bin. If you miss the garbage day it could be a month until it gets empty. Makes you become hyper aware which day is black bin day.

My uncle has raccoons that go through his bins at night, not sure why he doesn't put them in his garage
