Default Interesting new tool for Home Insulation

Looks like they take IR heat scans from a satellite and tell you how your home looks on an insulation POV.

    https://myheat.ca/calgary

    Mine:
Your home’s HEAT Score is 6/10, which indicates moderate total heat loss. A lower score means that the house loses less energy. Typically larger homes will lose more energy.

How old is this. My home isn't on here and I've been in it for 3 years in December.

    Rental house shows:
Your home’s HEAT Score is 5/10, which indicates moderate total heat loss. A lower score means that the house loses less energy. Typically larger homes will lose more energy.

For cities currently available online on the MyHEAT platform, the data was collected in October 2015, after 11:00 PM, in order to nullify any impact of solar loading.

That's basically how the whole map looks. Big houses red, medium houses orange, small houses green.

its pretty sad to see the newer communities are so poorly scored too, just hows how quality has declined.

but its also kinda funny how any houses lining water and stuff are really bad, maybe just because they are more exposed to wind?

Houses on my street are generally the same size. (1300 sqft 2 stories)

Majority of detached garages are green, whereas attached are orange.

This app is a massive piece of shit, that's why. The score is based on the required insulation code that existed when the home was built. So anybody that bothered to do anything like fill their attic in their 50's home is going to look like a hero.

I just checked on two peoples houses I know in Auburn Bay and the ~2200sq ft 2 story house that was about $550K and just just a generic build is rated a 5. The ~2800sq ft custom built bungalow that was over $1.5M is a 9. And both of those owners have compared heating bills and it is funny because the larger house only costs a few bucks extra a month because of how well it is built, the in slab heat, and high end furnaces.

Either way the images look cool.

I wonder what time of day and what part of the year they do this. (too lazy to look)

I have R60 in my roof except for the red area by the arrow.

The roofs in my neighbourhood are all black. Architectural control. how much does that factor into this heat measurement?

Funny thing is that my heated attached garage is blue. And I know the door leaks heat like crazy.

The worst part of my place for heat loss - my detached, unheated, uninsulated garage.
    Will fuck off, again.

My old house is a small 2-storey in the deep se. I added r40 fibreglass batts to the entire attic on top of the existing (r40) blown-in insulation. Says the house is a 3/10.
My neighbour across the street has same model of home, built roughly at the same time, but does not have the added insulation. His home is a 4/10.
