    Default homemade poke

    hey guys,

i've been craving for some hawaiian poke, so i want to make some at home. have you guys tried those sushi-grade salmon/tuna packages at t&t supermarket? are there any special precautions that i need to take to avoid food poisoning?

    thanks!!

I've been buying salmon from Costco and eating it as sashimi for years and had no issues. I cut into portion, throw into freezer for a day. Thaw and serve.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

My friends are opening up a Poke restaurant. I think they're supposed to be opening in a month or 2 if you don't wanna make it yourself

All about that ahi tuna! I just buy any ahi... 1) tuna spends no time in fresh water (most parasites are from fresh water) 2) ahi is never served more than just seared, so it's not like there is any difference making it at home 3) poke is basically cured with the acid from the lemon juice anyways so bacteria shouldn't be an issue

Take your time cutting out the silver skin and it potentially can trump Hawaiian poke from my experience eating the "best" offerings on Oahu and Maui. Classic sweet onion, lemon juice, soya sauce, and sesame oil is probably my favourite... spicy is okay but reminds me of sushi too much, not as special of an experience I guess, if that's the right description?

Last spring I thought about how there was no poke offerings in Calgary and how perfect of a food truck meal it is... till I tried to figure out fish costs... will be interesting to see cost and serving sizes at this new restaurant

Now I'm craving some. Anyone have any recipes they like using salmon?

I feel like mayo, soy sauce, sirracha, lime and green onion would be good enough
