Default Do you take afternoon naps

Open discussion, just too many combinations with a poll.

Wonder if there's a correlation to race/cultural, and taking afternoon naps?

Some say Asians, Browns, the French tend to enjoy their afternoon naps than say Canadian whites. I don't notice. I just know when you're tired, you're tired, and when there's an opportunity just lay down and take a little siesta.

Afternoon nap for me is no sleep at night for at least a week.

A lot of countries give their employees a long lunch break 2-3 hours so they can eat and sleep. Business would go on to 7-8pm vs 5pm.

I don't really take naps but then I wake up at 10am lol

Nearly every weekday. 1hr lunch break = 20-30min nap in my car after eating.

On my days off, you bet. I only nap 15-20 minutes though. That seems to be enough to recharge me.

If I'm extremely tired then I'll try to nap for a bit. I usually try to avoid it because I'll feel like shit right after and I'll have trouble sleeping at night.

Absolutely nap 2-3x week. Our Circadian rhythms have a small, low point from 2-4 pm (depending on wake time) where our consciousness is lowered and people struggle to focus in the office.

I don't nap unless I am extremely tired. I'm like boost though, I don't get up super early (out of bed at about 730am to 8am). Don't get me wrong, I like laying in bed with nothing to do once in a blue moon, but for the most part, if its daytime, its go time!

I hate getting up super early, but I also don't really sleep in. I could be out drinking until 3am, and I'd still be up at 730 or 8.

Mentioning other cultures, apparently eating early (5-6pm) is quite the north American way, which may shape our sleeping habits. I guess some European and Asian countries eat a lot later (7pm-8pm).

    Nap occasionally on days off.
It's a gamble though, 80% of the time I'll feel like garbage when I wake up. 20% of the time it's

Not all the time, but what's the benefit to being an unemployed bum if you can't sleep in the afternoon?

I find I don't really need them, since I'm really boring and I go to bed damned early most days. I'm also up early, even though I'm an unemployed bum. I'm almost always up before my alarm, which rings at 6:25.

My 20 minute naps usually take about 2 hours. 2-3 times /week depending on the day.

Hell yeah. I have the week off and am in Calgary. I just took a nap that bests any nap I've ever taken. Sun was shining in the room, made it nice and toasty, stomach was full of tasty indian food, just killed it.

Aw hell yeah. Sleep is one of the most simplest, satisfying things. Why deprive yourself of it?

That said, I can't ever really sleep in past 8AM on my dayoffs, so yeah a nice afternoon nap is necessary some times.

Shit, I've probably had a few short cat naps on NB Deerfoot about 4:30PM on a sunny and warm afternoon - not good when you come back and realize you're a bit farther down the road and don't recall a thing for the last few seconds, my lucky star was shining brightly those few times.
