I'm trying to decide if I should keep my NAS, or sell it. I use it mainly for music and movies, and use Kodi 16.1 as the player.
What I do for the movies is, take my separate Blu-ray drive, and use MakeMKV to rip the movie. My computer is only so fast, so I only get 2x read ability. Then I transfer the movie onto the NAS.
I'm also a member of the Insider Hub for Xbox. One of the features that's coming is bitstreaming the lossless audio to your receiver, so your receiver does the audio work, not the Xbox. The sound is indistiguishable between the two devices.
The reason I ask, I recently lost all of my movies from the NAS. I had an audio glitch, and did a reset to factory, with one drive removed. I then tried to migrate from the full drive to the empty one, but didn't do it right. I'm starting to wonder if I even know what I'm doing with the NAS, enough to work it, or screw it up. If I were to sell the NAS, I would play discs in the Xbox, and have to go downstairs to get the movies, as the wife doesn't want them stored in the living room.
So I ask, is it worth it to re-rip 140 movies, takes about a month, or just move on, and stick with the Xbox?
