Heads up. I didn't know this and have to file an amendment now.
This is just the first step to taxing cap gains on your principle residence.

They will not tax cap gains on your principal residence (yet). What they are doing is closing that massive loophole where every fucker with a second property never paid tax on it because they made it their "primary" residence for a couple of months by having the utility bill sent there in their name.Originally posted by phreezee

Edit: oops, guess this might fit better under Real Estate/Finance?
I'm actually surprised they're doing this as politicians take advantage of this loophole all the time.
Eventually they will tax cap gains on primary, when it exceeds a certain amount.
Congrats man. Hope ya got a good price for it. What's the plan now? Vancouver FT?Originally posted by Sugarphreak

Comrade, soon the NDP will also rule BC again, and they will make house prices cheap for everyone while also preserving house prices!Originally posted by Sugarphreak
The prices in Vancouver went up 30% or more since I first listed. If I had sold right off the bat I would have been in pretty good shape. Now I can't afford anything worth buying, so fuck it

But then again, interior is seeing 10% unemployment much like Calgary.
None of the Vancouver action is moving inwards, only money. They may want change.
