    Default Air Conditioner Company Recommendations??

Does anyone have updated recommendations on AC companies? Looking to pick up a unit and quotes seem to be all over the place.

Action Furnace did my unit last year. Install was roughly 5 hours. Did a pretty good job, cleaned when they left. I've got no complaints.

(Note: I work with them but wasn't paid to say that )

Did mine a few years ago, used Friessen's.

As an update - ended up with Friessen's installing it. 3.5 ton Trane unit - total cost including GST was $4,125. The other option was a 3.5 ton Goodman which was $3900 (including GST) as well.
Also, lots of people said good things about using Gavin from the A/C thread: http://forums.beyond.ca/st/352855/ai...-for-my-house/

Although I didn't use them for a A/C, I used Friessen's as well for a Hot Water Tank install through Home Depot. Called 45 mins before appointment to confirm I was home. Showed up on time. Did his thing. Laid down carpet to not damage my flooring. Was a quick, clean install so would recommend them again.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

To put things into perspective, i just had W&J put a 3.5 Ton 13 Seer Carrier put in for $3500 all in. Did it in about 5 hours and did a pretty good job. Id say 8/10. They used a line kit for the lines instead of fabbing them so they didn't run them as "tight" as i would have liked it but its solid work.

    Other quotes were:

    Apri's - 3.5 Ton 14 Seer Lennox $4665 tax in
    Diamond Willow - 2.5 Ton 14 Seer Carrier $3750+tax
Canada Furnace - 3.5 Ton 14 Seer Trane $5391 tax in
    Harmony Heating - 4 Ton 13 Seer Lennox $3800+tax

I used Shift Air Mechanical (i posted a review in the main A/C thread). Installed 2 A/C units and a garage heater. Owners name is Brent and was happy with their work and had the best price from everyone who came by for an estimate.

Called him for a furnace issue (unrelated) a few months after my A/C install and he stopped by after work and took a look. Had it repaired for me and didn't charge me anything.

Anyone ever had an A/c unit relocated from one house to another? Cost savings or do they just jack up the labour?

I used action furnace about three years ago. Install was fine as I have nothing else to compare it to and the price was good as I also got some money off of the humidifier installed at the same time. I was not impressed with the way they installed my nest though and though they are a nest seller, they were not able to get it to control the humidifier. That is something I can fix myself eventually though. W&J would have been my second choice based on my quotes. I appreciated the larger effort on the quote from action furnace based on room and window sizes compared to just sqft.

2300 sqft. The guy based everything on the sq footage and didn't calculate it out but it was pretty much in line with the rest. Interestingly enough, the person that did the proper sizing calc came in with the smallest unit.

I take back Friessen's. They appear to have closed their Calgary office.

Need a recommendation for HVAC servicing for Trane units... my A/C won't come on (yes the breaker is on).
