lol wtf... I can't pick 3 good stocks in real life that perform this well
Brick is possibly going to get bought out by Leon's

Does anyone buy stock on recommendations from the people in the top 10? I'm curious if people will take a lead where ever they can get it. Like in*10*se, his worst stock is up 8.33%...I wish I had that skill/luck!

I agree with sugarphreak. Some real high risk choices here. The pick I made that is on the bottom of the list is something I owned multiple times in the past but not something I have owned for a while now. I wouldn't have chosen it when this contest started if real money were involved. That is obviously a great thing as you can see the beating it has taken. In fact I am not even sure if it is still trading.
The other two picks I made are stocks I have been in and out of all year.

'18 BMW X3 M40i
Both my wife and I have shares in my top performing pick, but that's for obvious reasons and given the shit kicking CP's stock took over the last few years it's been good. It was down in the low 30's in 2009 and is now up over $90/share, the question of it's sustainable is another issue entirely...lol
I agree with what the other people have said though, it's easy to go high risk with imaginary money.

I own or owned all 3 of my picks but with a smaller position in both the junior ones. Would've been up on all 3 if not for American guns being given willingly to terrorists to overthrow Qadaffi and then being used to invade northern Mali, leading to a rebellion against their "democratic" government in southern Mali. Only in fuking Africa... Still very bitter.
He's made quite a few good picks over the years.Originally posted by npham

You’d be crazy to buy stocks based on a contest with real money, because it is for fun people take more risk to make bigger gains. Personally I thought DavidI would be somewhere in the top 10 this year and all of his are doing piss poor.
I actually went pretty conservative on my picks because I was expecting large market volatility with Greece, seems it paid off.
I always grab speculative picks in these 'imaginary buy' contests with the thought of going big or going home. I picked stocks I thought would be good buys long-term, but they never hit the levels I would actually pick them up at.
That said, the only pick I actually put money in was RPT and it shit the bed. They hit a gnarly formation, caught their bit and had to shear pipe. That's how the game goes sometime. That said, I'm still a fan of the CEO and I think he'll raise the funds to complete their program. If not, hopefully he can complete a farm-out or JV to get 'er done.
I'm no longer a big fan of ELD. SU is still a great long-term buy, but I've continued to wait for <$30 before investing myself.
Congrats to all of the big winners this year!

Oh, and WSX did get bought out a week after I piled money into it and picked it on my blog, so that was a good win. I did regret making it my 'pick' after all...but at least I had real money in it.Originally posted by davidI
Since I can't decide between Large Caps and Small Caps, I'm going to go with a Large, Mid, and Small this year...let's hope it's a good year for commodities!
SU.TO
ELD.TO
RPT.V
(I may regret this...I had chosen WSX.V but decided to gamble on a penny stock insted).
Riding RRX to the next big thing now

True enough. SU may hit good buy levels, but I don't think we'll be seeing good sell levels in Q4.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
Not over yet, contest end date is Jan 6th
I wouldn't put money into RPT or ELD unless you're a gambler. RPT is one of those 'all or nothin' plays these days. Easier than driving to the Glen Eagles....I guess!
If you're curious...yes... i own all of my picks...
Definitely curious. How did you pick them? Go big or go home? Or just picked stocks that you were planning on investing into anyways?Originally posted by in*10*se
