Wish you could get these wheels though:

I really dislike the 'cadiz' wheels.

Damn, this is really tempting, especially with the results seen from just the Stage 1 APR ECU tune. Can't wait to see to see what Stage 2+ is like.
Crazy.
It's proven to me that GTI Owners are prunes. Nobody ever wants to try and take on a little focus...
I wouldn't get too used to that

Took me until now to asusme he meant prudes, not prunes as per old people?
Used S4 though or Golf R....that is the real question.
I have never bought a new car before so it seems like a pretty big deal.
Golf R is lots of car for the money though and a loaded S3 would be about $10k more.
Do you care about the usability of a hatchback? That should be the turning point as the S3 won't come in hatch form (correct me if I'm wrong).Originally posted by schocker

I have never had hatch/wagon before so I think the practicality would be nice. Obviously the Golf would be smaller than an S4 or my TSX, so that would be the only thing but I typically don't have more than one passenger. Not sure if the seats fold down, for golf/snowboard I assume I would need a roof rack?Originally posted by flipstah

The Golf seats fold flat; not sure about the S3. I wouldn't overlook that as I think some Lexus and Subaru's can't fold 60/40.Originally posted by schocker

For snowboard gear, just use a roof rack if the car is full of people.
The hatchback is nice for hauling random things fast like a 60 inch plasma TV.
More importantly, it fits a nuclear warhead.

Hmm, I always thought you had to transport Plasma's vertically and never laying down. Guess it worked out ok for you in the end tho!
Yes, that is true to avoid twisting but the drive was minimal, very fast (allegedly), and avoided as many bumps as I could.Originally posted by A2VR6

Worked out in the end!
That is more room than I was expecting. Hatch would be nicer so I could load stuff up higher as opposed to a trunk allowing a certain height and making everything difficult to reach the further back it is.Originally posted by flipstah

The S4 is fucking huge and I don't think you get much more usable space out of it. Always blows my mind how much we can fit in the wife's Golf.
I'm thinking of switching back to a gti or golf R as my next car. They are so usable, compared to a sedan.
More engine and passenger space is nice though. But fine, I will get the golf then!Originally posted by Mibz

The gti is the most practical and fun car I've ever owned at the same time.
Any idea whether the first allotment of R's will be 6sp? Or when those start arriving?
Hopefully I can get out of my gti with as little pain as possible to be driving an R for next winter

Can anyone PM me what they ended up paying for theirs?
It's to avoid the glass smashing haha - glad you made it OK! Some boxes have a bunch of bracing on the glass, some do not. Usually better to rent a truck for $20 than risk a $800 TV.Originally posted by flipstah

So is the R only available in limited quantities? Or will more become available as time goes on?
Why do companies do this? When manufacturers don't produce cars because "the buying public" doesn't want them, and then they produce "limited quantity" models, like wtf?
