I remember as a kid my mother saying something about the youngest passengers had to be the ones with the belts.. But that was over 20 yrs ago now..

u mite not get a ticket as a driver, but then the passenger without the seatbelts do then? lol
seatbelt law is just gay period...our lives...our choice...communists..
"That's what i thought..but in the driver's handbook it mentions the differences between having your class 5 GDL versus your full class 5 license and one of them said "having more passengers than seatbelts"
The book does NOT say that. Read it again.
The law is that you are required to wear a seatbelt. As for the two posts above mine.... You guys kinda sorta have it right.
Everyone must be belted. If you are over the age of 16 and are the passenger in a vehicle, YOU get the ticket for not having your seatbelt on. If I were driving with my nephews in the car (both under 16) and they don't have seatbelts on, I get the ticket. It has to do with age.
The difference between GDL and non GDL
On GDL
IF you by any chance even have .01% alcohol in your system you get a DUI
Off GDL
You get 15 demerits instead of 8
You are at the regular .07% alcohol.
On another note
The test is not that hard, mine was only 35-40 minutes.
No parallel parking, and relatively easy (assuming you can drive non idiotically)
"Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary… That’s what gets you."
Hey, sorry for bumping an uber-old thread but I got quoted $146 for doing the test. Is this the flat-rate price or is the price dependent on the instructor?
Yah I've been looking around and found it anywhere from $120-$140 to take the test.
Fuck that shit, I'm not handing over more money to show that I'm a good driver. I'll just stick with GDL. 4 years and counting!
try the registry behind the old crossroads indoor go carts.. thats where i got my licence year ago and it was the cheapest in town..
and i was lucky i got my licence 5 days before GDL came into affect haha

It's a proven fact that people that don't have seatbelts on are basically projectiles in your car that will slam into you potentially causing death and massive head injuries.Originally posted by Shift_Perform

Anyone in my car has to wear one. It's not like I do a roll call, I think you're just stupid or of the older driver mentality if you're not going to wear a seatbelt.
I called most of the registries listed on Google and only one had a spot available tomorrow.Originally posted by 5000Audi

The other ones are mid-late August. I thought you just go, pay and do the test but booking is essential now. My mistake.

Anyone know whats up with the varying prices? Do registries set their own?
Also, does the ~$100 or so include the cost of a new license that doesn't say 'GDL' on it, or do you have to pay for that on top?
Why even bother with the test? Its not like I need the 0.08% BAC limit and 15 demerites. 3 years baby!
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
well back 6 years ago when i got my licence it was 44 bucks for the road test then another 35 for the licence card.. so im assuming its still a cost on top of the road test..Originally posted by kylejw

In January, the government changed how road tests were to be administered. The major changes that affect the public are:
- Test must start and end at a registry
- Must be started and completed during registry hours
- No money can exchange hands between the examiner and the examinee
So, since this started, all testers that had their own business going, lost their businesses and had to start testing out of a registry. The government has a capped fee for the road test, the examiner gets a fee and the registry does.
So, aside from the government fee, which is $5, the rest of it is uncapped and at the registrys discretion.
When this all started, there was an office just outside of the city that was charging $309. There is nothing in the government guidelines that states that they cant.
**Oh, and the fee for the road test does not include the fee to change your licence ($22.45)
That was easy. I took the test this morning and it was alright.
It helps to talk to your instructor because it keeps you calm and he/she can relate to you if they know more about you rather than treat the instructor like a robot.
Being more personal totally helps and of course, great driving skills.

Test was easy got it first try in a RHD. Only things is screwed up on was that verbal hazard crap. The examiner couldn't speak clearly or something because I couldn't even make verbal hazard. He also claimed that I did not shoulder check twice, I noticed him scratching it down both times even though I know I shoulder checked. I avoided bitching at him so that he wouldn't start being douchy.
^^ how much did you pay?!
*threaded revived like 3 times thus far*
when i took it a few years ago it was like 60 bucks at ama and lasted 20 min. Was really easy compared to the drivers test

The driving between Midnight and 5am; isn't that only for learner drivers only?
A Class 5 GDL is a probationary driver and can drive through those hours right?
