[B]Currently: Crude oil options trader at an investment bank.
Formerly: Natural gas options trader at an investment bank.
Left my 7 year career in insurance back in January and moved into Project Managing with a restoration company.
Love the change. It's everything I really enjoyed about being a property adjuster (working out what needs to be rebuilt) without having to tell people their files are denied. I always hated that aspect as an adjuster, going to a seepage claim for some 80 year old lady on a fixed income to see her entire basement, all her belongings damaged and saying "Sorry, no coverage"
It's funny, when Crash first came out - in the scene where the guys shop gets broken into and the adjuster goes out and says "Sorry no coverage due to a faulty lock" I told my girlfriend "WOW! That would be the WORST JOB EVER!" then I ended up doing it for 7 years

Don't know if I've posted in this or not,
26, business analyst (operations) for a large oilfield services firm. Next step is either an MBA or equity research, unless an international opportunity comes up.
Sounds like you have a good background for getting into ER for service companies. Keep an eye on the CFA Jobline website (google: CFA Jobline Calgary), ER associate positions pop up all the time.Originally posted by woodywoodford

Should also look at writing CFA Level1 in June.
Pretty sure I've posted before, 22 still service advising at a dealership.
22 hopeless student in winnipeg looking for something to work towards in calgary
27, Financial Advisor and in the finance industry the last 7 years.
23 and can't stand my fucking O&G supply chain related (I use that term very loosely) job. When I got it as a student I was absolutely thrilled but now I see that it's about as dead-end and pencil-pushing as a job can get. Absolutely no way I can prove myself or grow and my manager doesn't seem to give a shit about it either.
Currently looking for something else.
Funny you say that, I'm a level 2 candidate and check the jobline every week. Still no callbacks thoughOriginally posted by Super_Geo

32, part owner of a Business Centre downtown. (Sublease out individual offices with full amenities. (Phone, Internet, reception etc)
27, CADD Technician doing really boring stuff in the OG industry. Used to do a lot of stuff related to automotive turbochargers, but it wasn't paying the bills back in Van.
Would love to get into something that's more R&D or hands on, sitting at a desk all day every day is really draining on the psyche.
If you take anything I have to say seriously, you're gunna have a bad time.

Hows the money in that, and managing it? I've been wondering how leasing out office space would compare to renting out duplexes for a while now..Originally posted by R-Audi

It all depends on your lease, since we dont own any of the space we occupy. You have a good lease rate and you can make some good money, bad rate and you could be in for tough times. (All your tenants pay market rate)Originally posted by woodywoodford

Tough part getting into the business is the upfront costs...pretty significant when you need phones, furniture, and someone who will actually lease to you. (covenant)
