i take it, the ribeye at vintage was the dry aged one? thats the only time i've ever had a decent steak at a restaurant vs what comes out of my kitchen

i've really dropped off the "foodie" scene lately... kind of upset about it, only time i seem to be able to find to go out for food is wings

and speaking of wings, vagabond completely ruin their's! use to be awesome and smoked instead of deep fried, now they just do it like everyone else... actually their entire menu has kinda just fallen apart

For me, I found the product @ Vintage was one of the best. TAD better than Ruth Chris'.

Time to drop it? If people see outdated entries, gotta reply! I wonder if we can keep this alive and stickied? Mods?

no, i agree... but remember, im a whitey... we do bbq, burgers, and steak

i have yet to have the usda cuts at ruth chris, so i cant say which place is better between the two, but the alberta stuff vs the dry aged ribeye at vintage? vintage hands down. i honestly just have never been blown away with any steak ever at a restaurant, but that vintage one came close... which is like... a A+++ i guess?

cause i'd like to put up basil's beef sate pho against, well... two actually. pho dau bo and bagolac saigon... in sushi terms... pho dau bo would be the traditional and bagolac saigon would be the "fusion*"

The only way that I can think of is to find three crazy foodies (three so minute chance of ties) that read this thread, try the two challenge dishes, and then report back.

Fuck, now I'm excited. I'll take a look at the list, pit them together (either by closeness of dish first, then closeness of cuisine, then distance within one another) and let these dishes earn their spot on our list.

For simplicity sake, I made the executive decision that any place I tried already is automatically in but can be challenged

Perhaps a Google spreadsheet would be an easier format to track these in.

Then you can assign type of cuisine and track the number of supporters/challengers for each, as well as winners in each category.

FUCK NO. Lol I stated it earlier. The competition will be ranked by:

1. By closeness of dish first (Pho vs. Pho)

If no. 1 cannot be met,

2. Closeness of cuisine (Asian vs. Asian; BBQ vs. BBQ)

If no. 2 cannot be met,

3. Distance within one another (17th Ave SW vs. 17th Ave SW)

If no. 3 cannot be met, then Battle Royale.

If the result is seemed 'unfair', it can be challenged with a new dish and the fun continues!

It'd have to be a judgement call based on the food...
Chicken pho is similar enough (although vastly inferior) to Beef pho that there shouldn't be 2 spots on the list taken up by Pho.

But Pho is sufficiently different from Ramen that they wouldn't compete against one another, even though they're both soup noodles.
